We came to the Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island Beach Resort & Spa expecting a premium Palm Beach experience. What we got was a chaotic, mismanaged, tone-deaf disaster that Marriott should be embarrassed to be associated with. Let’s start with the arrival: Valet and front desk staff looked genuinely shocked that a guest had arrived. When we asked for help with multiple family-sized bags, they looked at us like we were aliens. No welcome, no orientation, no info about the resort, no offer to explain anything. It was a shrug-and-handoff experience. And they still have our rate wrong, even though we booked the “Flavor of South Florida” package that clearly included $50 daily food credit and valet parking. When I asked about it, the front desk stared blankly and said no — despite me showing it to them. Still unresolved. Once in the room, things got worse: • A toilet that ran nonstop and still hasn’t been fixed • A ceiling fan stuck on speed 1 • An alarm clock that went off at 6:00 and 6:30 AM, and their “solution” was to leave a new one in the room — expecting me to move a king-sized bed, mattress, and box spring to install it myself • Housekeeping that barely touched the room, didn’t replace water, didn’t touch the sofa bed, and blamed their lack of effort on there being a laptop on the bed — a new one for me in hundreds of hotel stays worldwide • Makeup smeared on the door upon arrival • No meaningful service recovery whatsoever Then there’s the pool scene: It’s less “Palm Beach escape” and more “cheap timeshare spring break.” • Teenagers roughhousing, fighting, and throwing food in the pool • Guests openly drinking from coolers, blasting explicit music from large personal speakers • Dirty towels left out all day, no towels stocked at the back pool, and chairs covered in bird droppings and iguana waste • The slide attendant was more focused on her phone than anything happening in the water And just to round it out — after I clearly requested communication by written message only to avoid disturbing my kids, staff called our room at 9:45 PM. Their reason? To offer a “supervisor visit.” No thanks. Too little, too late, and completely inconsiderate. This is not a resort. This is a Spring Break motel wearing a Marriott badge. If you’re looking for a relaxing escape, you won’t find it here. What you will find is excuses, indifference, broken fixtures, and no sense of hospitality at all. Avoid this place. Read less
