We spent one night at this hotel and we were quite underwhelmed by our experience. First you should know that the lobby area is currently undergoing a major renovation, with lots of construction going on, and they've moved the restaurant up to a meeting room on the second floor. Besides that disappointment, our room and the hallways had a musky smell to them and everything seemed in need of an upgrade. Hotel staff were not all that friendly or helpful. The one good thing about the hotel is its location. You have nice views of the waterway and it's situated in the heart of the historic district. Read less

Unfortunately when we got there they were under major renovation of the lobby and first floor. The concierge was very polite and helpful. Our rooms were comfortable and clean. There was a hefty charge for parking. We thought we would get a break due to the renovations but no such luck. Nice location, walking distance to restaurants and shopping.
Image of the Tripadvisor rating GM too busy removing old world charm to take care of guest.

For my birthday, we booked this hotel because of its old-world charm. However, when we arrived there was no charm. It was being torn out with jack hammers to be replaced with the generic look of a Hilton in anywhere USA. It was sad, loud, and disappointing. We had planned to unwind with a cocktail in the lobby bar and eat dinner in the lobby restaurant, but neither were there. We were told we could have breakfast the next morning on the second floor where a makeshift restaurant/bar area had been set up. There was not much charm to the skirted folding tables. If you are a southerner, and expect a southern breakfast standard, there are no grits at Hilton. You'll need to acquire a taste for oatmeal instead. Seeing our disappointment, the waitress did comp the $20 per person breakfast. My husband wanted to speak with the GM of the hotel. A front desk agent went to the GM twice while we waited, but he did not have time for a guest issue, so we left. When I got home and went over my credit card charges, we had been over charged. I have spoken to corporate, who says the hotel needs to correct it. I have spoken with a front desk agent at the hotel multiple times and each time she assures me she has asked the GM to correct the charges and to call me. Neither of which have been done. I guess he is still too busy removing the charm from the hotel to help a guest. Read less

The service was excellent at this property. While they’re undergoing renovations, the staff went above and beyond to ensure that we had what we needed. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the property has an incredible location and views. Next time I’m in St Augustine, this hotel will be at the top of my list.

We stayed for two nights as a family and whilst the hotel was lovely, it was let down by the room cleaning and relatively thin walls. The staff were all lovely and the location was ideal for those wanting to stay in the historic district.
