This is for the restaurant only. It was Fantastic. Group of 9 and we all loved it. Highly recommend the strawberry shortcake martini, chicken piccata, vodka rigatoni, and calamari. Beautiful sunset view. Great decor and vibe. We loved that the menu had a nice variety of items. Everything was delicious

This review is from a European perspective. I would say generally it's an okay 4* hotel. PROS Pool bar staff were attentive and good quality drinks and food is served. They work very hard all day. Beds were generally easy to find. Towels were clean and fresh. The hotel restaurant was very good quality with very polite knowledgeable staff. Shame the menu didn't change during our time there. Beds were very comfortable. CONS Very poor chamber staff. In our party we had 4 rooms and we all had at least 2 days when the rooms were not cleaned and made up. This meant we ran out of toilet roll! Basic!!! The coffee and cups weren't replaced on a number of days when the room was made up. We also had a shaver cover left in the shower from the previous guests. The pool was small for the number of rooms in the hotel. By early afternoon it had food and other foreign bits in it. The hotel front desk manager was unhelpful and dogmatic. We asked for a late checkout a few days early and were told to ask in the morning of the checkout day. When I asked for a probability based on existing availability , I was told no and to enquire in the morning of check out. When we did that it was received with a flat no despite there being availability at the hotel. If late checkouts are not policy just say so, we could make alternative arrangements. The restrooms near the pool were disgusting. They were infrequently cleaned and left by other guests in a real mess. Out of 5 cubicles only 1 was clean enough to use and even then I needed to flush from the previous user. The replenishment of fruit and water Be warned they charge the entire cost of the booking as a pending on your card so make sure you secure the room in the card you are paying on. We made the mistake and used one we weren't intending to pay with and then the front desk manager refused to change it when we realised. Finally, one thing that really concerned me was the abundant use of single use plastic throughout the state of florida but particularly in the hotel. Reusable plastic around the pool would have been so much more ethical. Hundred of plastic cups and straws a day. Glass and China in the rooms rather than plastic bag covered coated paper cups. It made me really sad given the stunning beachside location. Plastic single use water bottles are abundantly available. Surely refillable ones with a water station on each floor would be more ethical and cheaper for the hotel. Would I go back? Probably not. I'd try somewhere else. Read less

Opal Sands is absolutely stunning. From the ocean and city views, to the pool nestled right by the beach…this hotel has it all! The location is the best you’re going to get in Clearwater Beach. It does come for a premium (parking and rooms are not cheap!), but treat yourself and you will be so happy that you did! Right when I walked in, the person who checked me in told me all about the hotel and everything to expect. They have ice cream (which I missed sadly) and cookies (yum! I did get those!). Customer service at this hotel goes above and beyond. From Kirk who fixed my hot water, to Harrison who gave me the perfect room…. this hotel delivers on the guest experience! The restaurant Seaguini was one of the best experiences because of Allison the bartender and Keane (I think that’s his name?) the barback. What a dynamic duo they were! They both worked very well together and packed my food up to-go when needed. Allison is funny and also very great at handling a large amount of guests and taking care of the service bar. That’s not an easy feat! Outside in the pool area, Spenser told me all about the things to do in Florida and was super kind and fast with the drinks! She kept a smile for all the guests and always made sure to walk around and check on people. The atmosphere and vibe at this hotel made it one of the best experiences I have had at a resort hotel. I can’t wait to visit again! Thank you Opal Sands! Read less

Great stay! Great location! Definitely could use new pillows. Only thing i felt as if the beach chairs should be included and not require payment just to save a spot. It felt a bit like nickel and diming everything that should be included at a resort.

It's people that make all the difference! Of course this resort is one of the newest and nicest on the beach but I wanted to take a minute to acknowledge someone. First off let me just say that the entire staff was always very helpful and polite but I wanted to give a massive heartfelt thanks to Alexis Weisner. Due to a booking error by Chase travel my reservation was never processed, and this of course led to a very long and frustrating morning. Alexis went way above and beyond to help me get things sorted as best she could, safe to say that without her the trip would've been a huge headache. However thanks to her kindness and going out of her way I didn't spend my entire day running around looking for hotels and instead relaxing and enjoying my vacation. Alexis, if you're reading this thank you from the bottom of my heart! Now for the property itself, top notch and very easy to deal with. There are snacks put out every day on each floor like fruit, cookies, and nuts with a fridge close by for water bottles. The rooms are exceptional and tastefully decorated with a touch of classic modern decor. The valet's are helpful and accommodating if you happen to leave something in the room and just need to park up for moment. The amenities are on point with the pool and hot tub setup in the perfect spot as well as a very equipped gym. The beach front restaurant/bar is perfect for happy hour being right on the water and of course the view is amazing. Like I said at the beginning there are lots of nice hotels but it's the people that make all the difference. I was in town for a wedding and would highly recommend this to any and all going to Clearwater beach as this is the perfect place to truly relax and enjoy a vacation. :-) Read less
