2nd time staying here and the deep beach is absolutely beautuful. This is very large hotel that appears to be sevearl older hotels/condos that were cobbled together, making for an odd layout and disjointed walks when trying to get to a particular location. Main entry/valet is insufficient for the hotel's size, as others note. Property and my room (both times in the adults-only building, which includes a separate pool) were in good condition and provided good nights sleep. Appears all rooms at the hotel have at least an angular view of the beautiful waters. Bathroom used standard Marriott amentities glued-to-the-shower rather than the individual amenities found in most global JWs or other high-end hotels. No turn-down service at night, which I've come to expect in JWs, St Regis and similar grade chains. Banquet food served was solid but the staff was inconsistent. One evening I asked the Concierge to send several small items up to my room; she assured she'd have them up shortly but they never arrived. I asked the bellman when departing early in the morning for tape to close a box. Opened one drawer and said he didn't have any, then went back into the luggage storage room. No effort at all or "wait a minute and let me see where I might find some." He instead suggested "if you're going to the airport they'll likely have some there and will probably open your box anyhow." Great answer, and fortunately the Hilton Vacation Club a few doors down was happy to help. Have stayed at JW's on several continents and this is nowhere near the standard expected. Its a nice, overpriced Marriott in a great location. Read less

I’ll preface this that I have stayed at a number of Marriotts luxury properties in Florida (Ritz Carlton in Sarasota, St Regis Longboat Key, etc) so that is what I compare it to. This hotel is plagued by poor management and while not “old”, it is in need of an upgrade to facilities and layout. We had several issues with staff, which you should not expect when paying $1000 per night. The other properties I stayed at, employees are proactive and here they are reactive. That is not necessarily their fault, but the fault of poor training and leadership. The first bad experience was pulling in on day one, and continued throughout. The valet area is a total mess - it’s too small an area for a large hotel and dinner/beach guests all coming into at once. There were several times in which cars were lined up down the street to get in. On top of that, there were often 3-4 valet guys standing around when cars needed to be moved out of the way. The whole entrance needs a redesign, and if not, they should reserve this area for hotel guests only and make dinner guests go to a different entrance. Second issue with the layout, is the fact that the elevator bank is right in the middle of a busy hallway. Every time you get off the elevator, there are tens of people walking in both directions, in a very small area. Doesn’t make a ton of sense. Positives, we did like the multiple pools, and the 10K arcade was a hit with our small kids. On the service side, we had several bad experiences: First: The resort charge entitles you to one umbrella and four chairs at the beach. The umbrellas are tiny, so not sure how they come up with this or have a limit at all. However, my wife and I had two rooms for us and our three kids. We asked our beach attendant for 4 chairs and 2 umbrellas, and they pointed to the policy. When I corrected him that we had two rooms, he said it was my responsibility to walk 200 yards back to the beach check in and let them know, before he would give us the second umbrella. Second: The weekends are crazy busy with one-night stayers and dinner reservations. We basically got ignored in the sushi restaurant for 20 minutes and there wasn’t a hostess in sight. They need to pay more attention to the people spending the most money. Maybe close some of the restaurants off to outsiders (or at certain times) rather than have 21+ restaurants. Third: We requested to have our room cleaned at a specific time (by noon), as our kids needed to nap in the afternoon. We came back at 2pm and nobody had touched the room. Fourth: Checking out, I called the bellhop to get our bags. 15 minutes later, nobody had showed up and I had to call again. It should not be this disorganized! Finally, the beach set up is terrible. The waiters are totally reactive when it comes to food and drinks, you have to find them to get anything. The food is served in disposable plasticware rather than in hard plastic dishes like other properties. Overall, I was not impressed. This isn’t even busy season, and the stay was a total let down. I am much more likely to go back to other properties until they fix the issues. Read less

I had an overall enjoyable stay and appreciated many aspects of the property during my short 4-day visit. Everything went smoothly until my final day, which unfortunately left a disappointing impression. On that day, the pool area was disorganized, so I headed down to the beach instead. At the main beach hut, I was met by an employee named Zehra who came across as dismissive, as though I was interrupting or inconveniencing her. When I was eventually seated by a gentleman, I was mistakenly placed in another guest’s reserved area. This led to an uncomfortable exchange, where I was accused of taking someone else’s seats and their belongings. I returned to the hut, and fortunately, another staff member there quickly acknowledged the mistake, apologized, and helped me get set up properly with fresh seating. Unfortunately, the issues didn’t stop there. Ordering food was a frustrating experience—despite trying to flag down the cart staff multiple times, I had to approach them myself, and it still took 20 minutes to receive a drink and nearly an hour and a half for my food to arrive. This was quite surprising, especially considering the excellent service I received during the earlier part of my stay. To top it off, as I was checking out, the front desk staff engaged in an argument with me, adding further stress to what had already become a disappointing final day. While my overall experience was mostly positive, the service and organization on the last day did not reflect the quality or standard I expected, especially considering the price paid. I hope this feedback helps highlight areas for improvement—perhaps a refresher in customer service training could help ensure a consistently positive experience for all guests moving forward. We had an amazing family stay at JW Marriott Marco Island! The beach was beautiful, pools were perfect for all ages, and the food and drinks were excellent. A highlight was our photo session with Chris from the Photography Concierge—he captured stunning family photos we’ll cherish forever. Highly recommend for a fun and relaxing family getaway!
