The grounds and hotel itself are beautiful. We had a Tropical View room overlooking the pool with the kids slide and it was nice. The room is a good size. I feel there’s wasted space as the bed could have fit a small night table on the other side. And even a small sofa on the wall next to the tv. We had an early flight and they had a room ready to check us in when we got there which was much appreciated! We ate at Koral for sushi one night, Kanes another and Quinns twice. They were all pretty good. I guess my only real complaint is that everything is super expensive. Breakfast buffet for 2 adults and 2 kids comes to $120 with tip. Regular pack of m&m’s are $4, a beer is $10, mixed drink is $20, small bottle of sunscreen $20. Also there is really no entertainment aside from a 10 minute fire show at sunset. It would have been nice if they had some live music on the patio by the pool or somewhere. Hotel was dead by 8:30 leaving the overpriced arcade as the only option. Arcade cards are either $25 or $55 and it goes fast! It’s nice to leave your room with just a wristband and be able to charge everything. I don’t think it was worth the price and probably wouldn’t itch to go back but the hotel and beach were beautiful and we did enjoy. Read less

We stopped at Kanes and had a drink at the bar after a morning on the beach. Sergio and Darren were wonderful bartenders-friendly and fun. Tyler, the outdoor restaurant manager, came by to check in and was so Friendly! Even gave us a quick tour around the restaurant spaces. Everyone was very friendly!!!

Did a lot of research on where to vacation as a little reward for hard work. Our criteria was drink service on the beach, ocean front room, and nice beach. To be honest I was looking for anywhere but Florida in July BUT I landed on the JW Marriott at Marco Island after reading reviews and seeing what the resort had to offer. Our stay more than exceeding expectations, here is what stood out: 1. Couples stay in the Serene tower 100% worth it. We had a private check-in area where Bella gave us cold champagne and got us situated. The Serene portion of the hotel is adults only, we booked an ocean view room and the balcony was huge. There were quality finishes in the room, including Neospresso coffee machine which was nice to enjoy coffee on the balcony. Room was very clean and huge. 2. Serene stay includes the adults only portion of the beach. You do not need to book beach chairs or umbrella, you simply go see Shawn at the Serene beach hut and he’ll get you set up with towels and take you your chairs which are set up in groups of two. The Serene beach is located next to what seems to be a public portion of the beach, if your sat on that end of the beach you may hear some music and conversations from that area but we weren’t really bothered. The beach was so clean, water was free of rocks and seaweed! Lots of shells to pick up, Marco Island is known for shells. Shawn will give you a little shell guide to help identify what you find. The beach was also very safe, there isn’t anyone walking up and down trying to selling trinkets, you can also leave your stuff at your chair and get in the water or walk around without worrying if someone will take your seat or your things. Shawn / other attendants for Serene beach put out the exact number of chairs per the number of Serene guests, this made for a totally stress free beach experience - no fighting for chairs! 3. Beach drink and food service was excellent. Brandon drives a cart around every 20 minutes to check in on the beach guests. The charges automatically go to your room and gratuity is included so you don’t really even need to bring cash or cards down to the beach. We were living the Miami Vice drinks, so good!! We also had the chicken wings and chips and salsa. The beach food was surprisingly very good, we were not sure what to expect for food here but would not hesitate to order lunch on the beach again. Brandon gave us excellent service, we left our salsa chips open while we went into the water and the seagulls came by and made a huge mess. Brandon cleaned it up for us and threw out the mess, we were in the water and totally unaware, when we got back to our seats he offered us new chips and salsa on the house if we wanted more. Totally our fault for leaving the chips open but he wasn’t sure if we were done enjoying the chips and felt bad he had to toss them. 5. Overall service was excellent. Everyone seemed to remember us when we saw them throughout our stay. There was a point when we were having trouble sleeping because used to sleeping with the white noise of a fan. Bella had a box fan brought up to our room right away! 6. Food was very good as well. Kane’s is a must, we would’ve eaten there every meal! Breakfast was included with our Serene stay and was very good. 7. Mosquito control was excellent, we had no idea that the island gets rampant with mosquitos. One of our waitresses at Kane’s (I did not catch her name, I remember she was pregnant at the time) took some time to talk with us about the resort and what they’re going to help control mosquitos so guests have an enjoyable experience. The Island releases dragonflies to naturally take care of bugs, we saw them while we were drinking our morning coffee on the balcony. They do not bother you at all, they don’t even come into the balcony area but they’re close enough to observe. The resort has a mosquito catcher installed which catches the female mosquitos so the male ones aren’t attracted to the area. We were very impressed with how the island and resort were handling the issue. 8. Couples massage was great, staying at Serene we had a free add on service included. The locker rooms also had hot and cold plunge, steam and sauna rooms. If the weather was bad we would’ve taken advantage more of these amenities but we had great weather everyday. 10/10 stay, it felt very luxurious in Serene we are definitely planning to stay again! This was our 4th visit to the resort, our first was 20 years ago and it was a bit smaller then. We also only used to stay for 3 or 4 nights before moving onto somewhere else and we always didn't want to leave. This time we spent a week here, still didn't want to leave!!! The resort is a lot bigger and now a JW Marriott, but we still love it and yes it isn't cheap and yes it is now a big resort, but we still loved it. The location, the food, the pool and the sunsets, you can't forget the sunsets. We ate in Maia a few times for breakfast which was very good. We also ate at Quinns which you can't go wrong with, always happy to accommodate fussy eaters. We also ate at Ario which was a bit disappointing. I felt it was a bit rushed, we weren't feeling our best so probably didn't matter but we were in and out within 75 minutes. We had drinks at Korals a couple of times and is always great and bar tenders always friendly and helpful. We had 3 rooms, 2 Partial Pool/Gulf Views which suited out grown up sons and their girlfriends, they had a great view of Quinns Pool and the beach. We had a Sunset Corner Suite which was great, lots of balcony space, the only downside was the size of the bathroom, a bit small compared to the other rooms, but the view we had definitely made up for it. Was it as good as we remember, yes, would we go back, hell yes. As previously mentioned it isn't cheap by any means but it's just a great place to visit. We managed to do the jetski tour from the hotel beach which was great and saw dolphins, turtles, pelicans and was great fun. We also did a sunset cruise with Cool Beans which was fab, the sunsets were amaxing Read less
