The hotel

This hotel is a work of art. Quite literally! As you walk into the hotel you'll instantly notice the distinctive artwork and creative decorations surrounding you, and during your stay you're likely to see curated gallery exhibitions as well as art and wine tours on offer - so you can really ignite your creative mind! Whilst the art is a key factor in making this hotel so great, there's a host of other facilities to enjoy too - one of our favourites being the rooftop pool and bar where you can enjoy lovely views of Sarasota and the marina whilst taking a dip or enjoying a cocktail. The perks continue in your room, with colouring pencils and a sketchbook as well as a ukelele! Opt for a high floor room to enjoy more beautiful views, they're definitely worth it. The hotel is in the heart of Sarasota so it's easy to explore. Sarasota farmers market is just a couple of minutes walk away, and you're only 3 miles from the beautiful Lido Key Beach on the Gulf of Mexico. Complimentary bicycles are available too, so you can whip around the town to find some great restaurants and shops.

Stayed one night in the hotel for my daughter to do testing nearby. Hotel property is nice. Rooms are well appointed. Rooftop restaurant and pool are beautiful. The issue is parking, the hotel charges $40 nightly to valet which was not disclosed prior to staying. You have the option to park at a public garage. Be very cautious about where… Read more

The issue is parking, the hotel charges $40 nightly to valet which was not disclosed prior to staying. You have the option to park at a public garage. Be very cautious about where you park in the garage. I was given a parking ticket for parking in an area that does not allow parking from 6am to 10am and the parking spot was not marked. Read less

My wife and I, along with our two grandchildren, stayed for two nights, August 1 and 2. We have stayed in many hotels, both here in the US and Europe, and without a doubt, the Art Ovation Hotel rates 10 out of 10 on everything you would expect to make your stay exceptional. This will be our hotel of choice when we next visit Sarasota.

Everything and all that work there are first class or better. The rooms, the pool, the views, the location. Superb. And a shuttle to shopping or the beach.

Kudos to the folks that make my Sarasota visit a delight: Artem E., a true gentleman—always, John D., shuttle driver (and the most # of positive comments in the history of AOH!), Josh, shuttle driver: SO accommodating, polite and lovely…you really made our trip requests and destinations a possibility and we appreciated you SO MUCH! Sarah at the lobby bar: always a pleasure to see you, my dear…I always make it a point to visit you! Also, Kristen (Kristin?) who worked at the lobby bar one night (I think she usually works Perspective)…thank you for your service and conversation…you handled those fancy drink orders (decaf espresso martinis) very well…as well as my charcuterie order and packed up what I could not finish. Monique in the Gift Shop…thank you for the Eight +Bob fragrance samples. Also, very nice meeting the new GM Wes…and sorry that I missed you Robyn Holl (I hear you were in Sweden on a family adventure, so cool!) Anyway, hope to see you all again as soon as I can visit again. I just love me some Art Ovation Hotel! Until next time…❤️❤️❤️❤️ Read less

Do not go unless you are under 30 yo, I recently visited for my daughter’s 27th birthday and I had reserved a room. When we arrived, they treated me like I did not exist speaking only to my daughter…then the manager asked if anyone would like a welcome sangria to us and the party in front, when I said yes. I would like one, he returned only with drinks for the younger couple in front of us. To top it off, I went alone to the rooftop for sunset. Upon arrival , I informed the doorman that I left my room key behind, but he responded don’t worry then I entered…yet when I was leaving again explaining I left room key in the room I was grilled how I could get back into my room, despite saying several times my daughter was in the room! Unforgivable disrespect and lack of concern for a guest! I have been a guest at numerous hotels and never experienced this discrimination from a hotel in the “ hospitality” industry! Read less
