This was a return trip, our 5th, so as always, we arrived expecting excellence. What we experienced over the next 12 days didn’t just meet those expectations, it exceeded them.
Our family just returned home from another unforgettable stay at the Marriott Clearwater Beach Resort on Sand Key and we’re reminded once again why this has become such a meaningful place for us. Twelve days is a long time to spend anywhere and when you stay that long, you truly get to know the people who make a resort exceptional. This trip was nothing short of extraordinary.
Anyone can build a beautiful hotel. They can renovate rooms- as they recently did, create great restaurants, maintain pristine grounds and offer spectacular amenities. What separates a good resort from a truly exceptional one is its people. That’s where this property truly shines.
From the moment we checked in until the day we reluctantly checked out, every interaction reminded us why we keep coming back. Whether it was a warm greeting in the lobby, someone remembering our names at breakfast, a friendly conversation by the pool or an employee simply stopping to ask how our family was enjoying our stay, every person we encountered made us feel genuinely welcome. Over nearly two weeks, we didn’t just get to know the resort. We got to once again know the people who make it feel like home.
To the entire front desk team, thank you for welcoming us every day with genuine smiles, answering every question and making us feel like valued guests rather than just another room number.
To housekeeping, thank you for taking such incredible care of our room throughout our stay. Your attention to detail never went unnoticed and allowed us to simply relax and enjoy every moment of our vacation.
To the maintenance team, bell staff and everyone working behind the scenes, thank you for all the work guests rarely see. Great vacations don’t just happen. They’re made possible by people like you. It's here that I want to call out Wilmer, who as a front-end face and valet- the first person you see, always greeted us with a smile and enthusiastic hello!
Every morning, Watercolour was our favorite place to start the day. Taryn, Eric, Cathy and Katie welcomed us with warmth, remembered our family and consistently delivered exceptional service. Breakfast quickly became more than just a meal. It became part of our daily routine because of the people serving it.
When evening arrived, Watercolour offered a completely different experience thanks to Rick and Ricardo behind the bar. They didn’t just make outstanding cocktails. They created an atmosphere where guests wanted to stay a little longer, enjoy great conversation and unwind after a day in the sun. Their personalities and professionalism made every evening memorable. And the sushi bar is back in 2026!
Whether we were grabbing lunch between trips to the pool or enjoying an afternoon snack, the team at Kokomo's consistently delivered friendly, attentive service despite the constant pace.
Speaking of the pool…
Josh deserves special recognition.
For 12 straight days, I honestly don’t think we ever saw him stop moving, which is the case every year. From the moment the kitchen opened until it closed, he was constantly running food from the kitchen to Kokomo’s and guests throughout the pool deck. Trip after trip, hour after hour and day after day, he never seemed to slow down.
It’s one thing to work hard. It’s another to do it with a smile, a positive attitude and an energy that never seemed to fade. His hustle was impossible to miss and our family commented on it almost every single day. Josh’s work ethic is something to be admired and he played a big part in making the pool experience so enjoyable.
Brannon in the Bistro was another standout. Every interaction was friendly, genuine and welcoming. It’s people like Brannon who turn a quick stop into a memorable experience.
A heartfelt thank you also goes to Mikel Lopes at the concierge desk. Whether helping with recommendations, answering questions or simply checking in to see how our stay was going, Mikel always made us feel like we were in great hands.
I also have to recognize Jason Espinosa.
By the middle of our stay, it became a running joke with our family that Jason somehow managed to be everywhere at once. One minute he was helping near the pool. The next he was assisting another department. Then he’d appear somewhere else solving another problem. He truly is the definition of a jack of all trades. No task seemed beneath him and no guest request seemed too small. His work ethic, humility and commitment to both guests and his fellow associates were remarkable to watch.
Finally, I want to thank Jason Kruge, Kim Peterson, Michelle Scannell, Sarah Lopez, Jacob and Madison.
By the end of our stay, they no longer felt like employees taking care of guests. They felt like friends. Whether they were bringing us food and drinks poolside, stopping by to check on us, sharing a laugh or simply taking a few moments to chat, they made us feel genuinely cared for. They anticipated what we needed before we even had to ask and made every interaction feel personal. Their kindness, generosity and friendship became one of the highlights of our vacation, and our family is grateful for each of them.
The amazing part is that these are simply the names we happened to learn over the course of 12 days. There were countless others throughout Watercolour, Kokomo’s, the Bistro, housekeeping, engineering, maintenance, the front desk, concierge, bell services and every other corner of the resort who helped make this vacation unforgettable. If I didn’t mention your name, please know your kindness, professionalism and hospitality did not go unnoticed.
In today’s world, truly exceptional customer service has become increasingly rare. At the Marriott Clearwater Beach Resort on Sand Key, it remains the standard.
Thank you for giving our family another vacation we’ll cherish for years to come. Thank you for making us feel welcomed, appreciated and genuinely cared for every single day.
We arrived expecting excellence.
We left feeling like we were saying goodbye to friends.
Until next time.
