One of Clearwater’s most remarkable resorts, the Hyatt brought a new level of luxury and service to Florida’s west coast. Inspired by the West Indies, the oversized rooms and suites are beautifully furnished with fully-equipped kitchens and private balconies offering water views. A real treat to return to at the end of a busy day, they’re perfect for families or couples seeking the ultimate in relaxation. The resort also boasts a wealth of world-class amenities to tempt you, including the eco-friendly Sandava Spa with its impressive range of beauty treatments and the 24-hour StayFit gym, ideal for the ardent keep-fit fan! On the 8th floor is the swimming pool complete with children’s section and climate-controlled poolside cabanas. Alternatively, head up to the 16th floor’s Sky Terrace for sunning and hot tubbing. There are water sports galore on the beach or jump on the Jolly Trolley and head down to St Petersburg and explore. SHOR is the hotel’s signature restaurant featuring a dramatic show kitchen to show you how it’s done. Pan-Latin fusion dishes are also served poolside and Skimmers lobby bar will rustle you up a delicious cocktail in no time at all. Camp Hyatt kids club offers an exciting range of activities both in the hotel and on the beach, leaving parents with time to chill out, Florida style!

Large hotel in an excellent location right on Clearwater Beach. Our room had a small kitchen (which we’d booked) which was perfect for what we needed as we do like to have our own food available. The room itself was extremely spacious, well appointed (with things like USB ports), a large TV and bathroom and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The AC did make quite a racket but it did keep the room cool and we got used to it. The balcony had great views of the ocean and beach.
For anyone interested, the kitchen had a large fridge freezer, hob and microwave (no oven). A lot of surface and storage space and only 4 of all utensils and crockery and just a couple of a pans. However, this was more than sufficient.
Check-in was easy and Karen on Reception was extremely helpful in relocating us to a different room as soon as we complained about the noise in our first room, which was coming from the street outside (live music) but was so loud there was no escape from it. The 14th floor which she moved us to was an immediate improvement and much preferred!
Things which might be of interest:
- The gym is free to use and well appointed
- Valet parking is $40 per day (there isn’t actually much available parking in that area)
- You can use the loungers by the pool for free (it’s a shallow pool)
- Beach chairs and umbrellas are not included, you have to pay $20 per day (we didn’t bother with this as the beach was crowded and noisy)
- There is a hot tub and more loungers on the top floor terrace and it’s quieter up there, but note they do play some pretty awful music (to our taste) all the time which rather ruins it
- There’s a lot of general street noise outside all the time which can’t be helped, it’s busy
- You can hire a bike from the ‘garage’ for free for 1 hour included in the room price. It’s $12 an hour per bike after that. Be warned that the whole hire thing is through an app which you have to download and load a credit card onto. The whole saga of doing this was unremittingly awful because there’s no WiFi in the garage area which meant running back to the Reception area to download and log in before dashing back out to try and get the bike to unlock before it loses signal. Even though this was off-puttingly hateful, the biking was quite good fun – we got all the way over to Sand Key Park and to the very top of Clearwater Beach.
The Hyatt was a good hotel overall though with excellent service and friendly and helpful staff. It’s also really close to the pier and marina area where all the water tours, rides and activities take place (within walking distance).
