“Not what I expect from a JW”

We recently stayed at the JW Marriott Clearwater Beach and had mixed feelings about the experience. The hotel itself is beautiful, modern, and very nicely designed, with the quality and atmosphere you would expect from a newer JW Marriott property. Unfortunately, the service and beach experience fell short. We arrived at 8:00 PM and were told our room was still being cleaned, despite the stated 4:00 PM check-in time. Our room was not ready until after 9:00 PM, which was extremely frustrating after a full day of travel. In addition, our balcony was not usable because it was covered with dead bugs and clearly had not been properly cleaned before arrival. The coffee maker only had decaf and no privacy door tag was provided. The beach setup was also disappointing. The beach area is quite small for a property of this size (an inlet cove rather than ocean facing) and the rules regarding beach chairs and reserved seating were not consistently enforced, making it difficult to enjoy the beach experience. We ate at both restaurants which were good but not great. Continental breakfast was provided for Elite members at Latitude with a $10 up charge for hot items. Deep End for dinner near pool has a great view with good service and decent food. Requested a late checkout and was offered an hour extension to noon (as a Platinum member and on a Luminous stay). I asked to speak to a manager and was never contacted. We ended up just leaving given all the frustrating aspects of the stay. Overall, the property itself is very nice and has a lot of potential, but the operational and service issues took away from what should have been a luxury experience.

“More Than a Hotel Stay — A Special Memory”

We had such a wonderful stay at JW Marriott Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa from April 28–30 and cannot say enough great things about the experience. Before arriving, we called to ask about the possibility of early check-in. While that wasn’t available, the associate we spoke with suggested upgrading to a one-bedroom suite so we could arrive earlier and settle in comfortably—and it was absolutely worth it. The suite overlooking the pool with the large balcony made the trip feel extra special. What made this stay especially meaningful was being able to bring our 16-year-old senior pup, who is currently battling cancer. Having a peaceful, beautiful space to relax together meant more to us than words can express. The beach staff was fantastic all around, but Olivia truly stood out. She was warm, attentive, friendly, and made us feel genuinely welcomed throughout the day. That evening, we decided to enjoy room service on the balcony while watching the sunset instead of going out to dinner, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. Elizabeth, who delivered our meal, was absolutely wonderful. Without us even asking, she offered to take photos of us “so you can remember this moment,” which was such a thoughtful and heartfelt gesture. She beautifully set everything up for us on the patio, and it created a memory we’ll always cherish. We came over from Orlando for a concert at The BayCare Sound, but the stay itself became the true highlight of the getaway. Thank you to the entire team for such genuine hospitality. We cannot wait to come back.

Colton at the spa made our experience exceptional! Cherry on the top of the cake was experience with Nicholas at the valet parking! We had an amazing time!
