Image of the Tripadvisor rating It was simply the worst experience I have ever had in my life after 70 years of living and it was my birthday it was bad

It was terrible. At 6:30 pm the room was left in a wartime atmosphere. Bedrooms were not made up, and refrigerator never emptied, and floors were never mopped with chips and dips massacred the whole area . Manager quotes you only paid 350.00 that I received a bargain. Manager does not realize i worked all week to spend one night with my wife… Read more

Pool heater was broke and young adults under 15 were in the hot tub with no supervision of the pool area. Read less

The resort is in sorry and very tried condition. Yes the last hurricane did some damage but this had nothing to do with the condition of the resort. The room that we stayed in was filthy with build up dirt around the base boards. The cupboards were slick with old grease. There was leftover open food in the cupboard. The microwave was broken, the overhead fans were loud, the bath tube was pealing paint and this is just to name a few things wrong. The pool wasn’t heated and full of sand. Elevators were broken and the one that worked hadn’t been inspected in over a year. Letters have been written to management and corporate office but no replays. One the positive side, the staff was friendly. Would never go back. Read less

This place can use the excuse of a recent hurricane for things being broken and closed, but the hurricane did not make this place so dated and old. I cannot imagine when the pictures were taken of this place and how polished up they made them, but they are not even close to accurate. There were cockroaches and the dryer didn't work. I cannot imagine when the pictures were taken of this place and how polished up they made them, but they are not even close to accurate. There were cockroaches and the dryer didn't work. The "provided beach towels" are some very old thin, small striped piece of cloth. There were 6 extra large spoons, 4 forks and a couple of knives in the kitchen - the glassware was ok but overall the kitchen was also a miss. The only redeeming thing about this place is it is directly on the beach and the guy with the umbrellas and chairs was very nice and got us all set up every day. I booked this for a short beach vacation with friends and am embarrassed this was such a fail, especially because it was not cheap. Read less

We have been coming to Sunset Vistas for several years and it is always very clean and wonderful! Some of the recent reviews are mind boggling - I've NEVER seen anything like what is described or what is in some of the photos. Must be just a couple of condos that are not maintained by their owners.

After less than 24 hours we were coughing and in need of medical attention. Here’s our story. After less than 24 hours we were coughing and in need of medical attention. Here’s our story. Looking to escape the winter weather, my wife and I reserved a 2-bedroom suite at Sunset Vista Resort in Treasure Island, FL from 2/18 – 3/11/2025 at a rate of $454.38 / night. We checked in on 2/18 at 4:00 pm and immediately noticed a strong mold smell in our room. We opened the doors and windows to change the air, but as soon as they were closed the smell returned. At 6:00 pm we notified the front desk. They said they would have the HVAC system cleaned first thing in the morning. Overnight we developed a severe cough. At 10:00 am we went to BayCare Urgent Care in Pasadena, FL. We were diagnosed with an acute respiratory infection. The doctor administered a nebulizer, prescribed an inhaler and cough medicine, and advised us to change rooms as soon as possible. At 1:00 pm we returned to our room. The HVAC system had not been cleaned, and the mold smell remained. At 2:00 pm we went back to the front desk to request a new room. We were told no other rooms were available. We asked if they managed any other properties and were told yes but those properties were sold out as well. Unable to locate comparable lodging, we made the difficult decision to return home to Pennsylvania. Even though they were unable to provide a clean and healthy room, Sunset Vista management charged us for the night we stayed plus a penalty night. The total bill came to $923.46. I contacted three representatives of Sunset Vista, and no one was willing to provide a refund nor were they willing to waive the penalty day. Since then, we noticed our card was overcharged an additional $500. Sunset Vista has been non-responsive. In my opinion, this resort is old, rundown, and still recovering from the hurricanes. The mold in the HVAC system will require a major mitigation. If you care about the health of your family, avoid Sunset Vista Resort. Read less
