St Pete Beach, Tampa and Clearwater/St Pete

Star rating

The hotel

The stomping ground of celebrities past and present (think F Scott Fitzgerald in earlier years and Justin Timberlake more recently), The Don CeSar Hotel is regarded as Florida’s legendary Pink Palace. Registered with the Historic Hotels of America, it effortlessly blends the Great Gatsby era of pampering with modern European grandeur. Picture-perfect in every way, the beach is a wonderful place to relax or indulge in a variety of exciting water sports – kite surfing anyone? There are also 2 beautifully furnished, beachfront swimming pools to take advantage of, so grab a good book and some sun cream and enjoy, or book in for a pampering session at the spa perhaps. Dine around The Don at one of the many restaurants or lounges, from al fresco breakfast at Sea Porch to an exquisite evening at Maritana Grille - or take in the stunning sunset views with coastal cuisine and cool cocktails at Rowe Bar.

ISSUES: 1) NO public parking nearby 2) I asked the hotel's guest parking, the ONLY parking on the property, how much it costs if I was here for 1 hour? Answer: it's a flat $41.50 regardless of the time ! I was not able to visit it's 'famous restaurant, bars with a Gulf view' CLEARLY, Don Cesar doesn't want local visitors/tourists. No wonder businesses on Treasure Island are struggling... This isn't Miami Beach. Don't patronize this greedy bizz ! Read less

This place is amazing... The staff was great. I love that you can walk right to the beach from the hotel. You really don't have to leave the hotel, they have all you need inside.

The hotel was beautiful and absolutely breathtaking. The booking process was awful. I booked a room on the hotel’s website and was informed that the resort fee was part of the booking price. I was informed that the valet parking was $28.00/night. When I reviewed the invoice after the first day I noticed a resort fee of $30.00/day and the parking was $38.00/night. When I went to the front desk to ask about the charges, I was told if I can show the confirmation with the fee included, and the $28.00 parking fee, they would honor it. I told the representative at the desk I never got the confirmation. I took a picture of the confirmation number when I booked and literally called three times asking them to send the confirmation to my email address. All three times they confirmed my email address and said they would send it but they never did. The representative said she heard that complaint several times. I feel they should have honored the waiver and adjusted the parking fee, but they did not. This left me thinking they did this intentionally so they could tack a few extra bucks onto my bill. The second day of my stay, housekeeping never came to our room. When I brought this up to the representative behind the desk, she said they don’t always come every day; they usually do the rooms every other day. I asked for new towels and she said she would call housekeeping and have them sent to our room. We returned from dinner three hours later and there were no towels. We went back to the front desk and told them. They said they would get the towels to our room shortly. Three hours later we returned to our room and the new towels were there but they never took the old towels away; which we had piled in front of the bathroom floor. We upgraded our room at a cost of an additional $100.00/night. For the cost of our stay, it was very disappointing to have been treated in this manner. Read less

Our stay at The Don CeSar was exceptional from start to finish. The customer service stood out in every area — from the friendly front desk team to the attentive staff at the pool and beach. Everyone we interacted with went out of their way to ensure we felt welcome and cared for. Parker Harvey was especially helpful with our accommodations prior to our arrival and his commitment to excellence can be seen throughout the entire staff. The hotel itself is beautiful and iconic, but it’s the level of service that truly sets it apart. We left feeling relaxed, appreciated, and already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommend! Read less

Very disappointed, from the parking costing $40, no view while eating lunch cause they are still working on main dinning room from hurricane damage. My lettuce was old and waitress just said I will mention it to chef. Found the place dirty compared to the beautiful Venoy it's competitor. Wooden hand rails where sticker and filthy.
