Checked into the Rosen Plaza expecting holiday vibes… got corporate conference energy instead. No “hello,” no “welcome,” no nothing — just keys handed over like we were clocking in for a shift. We basically had to navigate the hotel like contestants on The Crystal Maze. The next morning, I went to reception to ask about the park transfers, hoping maybe yesterday was just an off moment. Nope. The welcome was exactly what I expected — polite but cold, zero warmth, zero personality. I was handed a leaflet and sent on my way. Efficient? Yes. Friendly? Absolutely not. We didn’t try Jack’s restaurant either — the three nights we were free, it was booked out with conferences. Jay did give us a 25% off voucher for Jack’s, which was genuinely appreciated… but honestly, even if they had squeezed us in, who wants to sit eating dinner surrounded by a room full of corporates having Very Serious Conversations. Not exactly the holiday vibe. Thankfully, the room was lovely. Clean, comfy, and the view of Epic and SeaWorld was so good we forgave the frosty check‑in for about five minutes. Housekeeping were the real stars — fresh bedding and towels every day, absolute legends. The hotel itself? Very business‑y. Lots of lanyards, not many flip‑flops. If you’re looking for personality, you’ll need to bring your own. The pool bar staff are a bit clicky, and the service is slow at the pool bar only, but the food is genuinely great — same for the deli, café, and shop. So yes, you’ll wait at the pool bar… but at least what arrives is worth eating. The gym is decent, the free pool towels are handy, and the Starbucks is priced pretty much like back home. The free water dispensers around the hotel are a lifesaver too. A massive shout‑out to Jay, the manager — the one person who actually made the place feel human. If the whole hotel had his energy, this review would be very different. Location is spot‑on for Universal, and the one free bus a day is handy if you catch it. Checkout was the sequel to check‑in: no goodbye, no “thanks for staying,” no “hope you had a great time.” Just a polite shove out the door. Consistent, I’ll give them that. So here’s the summary: • Great room • Great food • Great manager • Zero personality Would we stay again? Nope. We like a hotel that at least pretends it’s happy we’re there.
