The hotel

This isn’t just a holiday resort, it’s a world in itself. For starters, there’s the 18-hole golf course and 4 seasonally heated outdoor pools. The Spa at Shingle Creek is perfect for a pamper, and there's fun for all the family with tennis, basketball and sand volleyball games galore. When hunger calls, head to one of the many restaurants and choose from a range of cuisines, or head out onto I-Drive for some classic American diners. Just a short drive from Orlando's best theme parks - the most exciting of which is the brand new Universal Epic Universe that is just across the road! I had a conference here and was incredibly unimpressed. The hotel / conference center is surrounded by highways, which means that you can’t really walk anywhere to get food. 1. The allure of having restaurants on site is great, until you realize that there are incredibly long lines at every single place. BE PREPARED TO WAIT for food (kinda like the ride experience at Disney and Universal, right?). And don’t even think about getting coffee, unless you want to be in a line that stretches way down the hall (hope you like your room Keurig!). Most of the restaurants are right next to each other, which means that you also get to fight the crowds just to get through the hallway between the hotel section and the conference center section. 2. Let’s say that you and your friends want to order a pizza and have it delivered to you from outside the hotel. Unlike any other place that I have ever stayed, you’re NOT ALLOWED TO EAT OUTSIDE FOOD in a public area at the hotel. No kidding. There are signs all over the place and we were admonished at the conference opening session for doing this. You’re only allowed to eat outside food inside your room. So much for the hotel’s common areas as gathering and community spaces… This is deplorable hotel behavior. 3. The Internet speeds here are ABYSMAL. I had to pay extra just to get 40 Mb in my room. If you don’t pay, you get… FOUR (4) Mb. WTF? I often got less than 40 even after I paid, so that felt like a total scam. BE PREPARED TO WAIT for even basic Internet pages to load, in addition to waiting in line for food and coffee. I can’t remember the last time my hotel Internet speeds were this bad (and I stay at really fancy places like Fairfield Inn & Suites). 4. My tissue box had two tissues in it when I checked in. You’re not allowed to go down to the front desk and ask for something, so I called room service for a new box. 40 minutes later, still no delivery and now it’s past my bedtime. I call again and, finally, 10 minutes after that, it arrives. So if you need to call room service, BE PREPARED TO WAIT (hold on, I’m sensing a theme here…). My King room was good-sized and clean, and the water was hot. But I could’ve gotten better service, quicker/better food, and a non-oppressive visit experience at a less expensive hotel that was near restaurants. If you have a conference here, do that instead and just rideshare over. Read less

Let’s start with a big negative (there are positives). I checked in at 2am after 23 hours of travelling. The guy at reception, you would think it was him that had travelled all day. No real warmth or welcome at all. What was worse, I then proceeded to walk to my room. Not sure if it was pre allocated , but they gave me room 4121 which was literally the last room in the corridor and a 10 minute walk from reception, again, not what I wanted after a very long journey. Some thought may have been given to this whole process which was far from acceptable. I was pretty unhappy at this point. On the positive, rooms are big and spacious and extremely clean and comfortable. The food areas are good too, I loved my coffee in the morning from the on site cafe. I would stay again but for the experience of check in, probably not as there is so much choice in Orlando. Read less

This is the second time I have stayed here. Very friendly staff. Clean rooms. Large dining options on sight. Clean public areas. Little on the pricey side BUT... you pay for what you get in Orlando.

We absolutely love Rosen Shingle Creek — it’s a true gem in Orlando! Everything about this property is exceptional. From the outstanding amenities to the incredibly kind and professional staff, every detail is top-tier. The resort is expansive and impeccably maintained, with something for everyone: three beautiful pools, a golf course, tennis courts, peaceful gardens, an arcade room, and a wide variety of fantastic restaurants and cafés right on site. No matter which room you’re in, you’re guaranteed a stunning view. We had a major issue at a hotel we had booked for our Universal vacation this last time, where that hotel had no AC or hot water so we had to switch hotels, Rosen Shingle Creek was welcoming and the staff was able to get us booked a room immediately to be able to transfer over with no wait. I can’t state how thankful my family was to be able to relocate to this stunning hotel. This was our second stay here, and we’ve officially made this our go-to hotel for all future Orlando trips. Highly recommend! Read less
