Wonderful hotel! Highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. I have never felt so spoiled for my birthday. Balloons and desserts almost every day of my stay! The best hotel I have ever stayed in.

Rooms were fine - bathrooms need to be modernized by separating the toilet from the tub/shower. Pool was excellent. Food at Sal's was very good. Boats to the park are always great. On to the bad: We decided to drive to Epic Universe to beat the crowds and bus line. Upon leaving the garage, the gate swing arm came down and damaged my vehicle (see pics attached). I told the valet supervisor, Anderson as soon as I came to the front entrance. I spoke with Nick at the front desk and eventually was able to file an incident report with Jonas the day after. I asked to review the video camera footage but he said that was not allowed and that he wasn't even sure the cameras were working at that gate? The gate remained up the remaining two days of my stay which makes me believe there was an issue with it. It has now been 4 weeks with no response from the hotel. I have emailed the general manager with no response. I have spoken to Alex with security and Anna the office supervisor asking for this to be escalated but to no avail. Because I have received no communication from the hotel or their management I am going to be forced to file an insurance claim for the car repair. They will then have to seek legal recourse for compensation. This definitely leaves a bad taste in my mouth after spending 14k on a 4 day vacation.

We stayed at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel during our trip around Florida for my son’s 10th birthday. I mentioned this on our reservation, but it was completely ignored. I would have expected at least a birthday badge for Universal waiting at reception — they actually have them sitting there! I even dropped a hint later in a message to the hotel, and the reply was simply that we could pick one up ourselves. For a hotel of this calibre and price, that was quite disappointing. Our room was a standard, nice hotel room — nothing special. I called to ask if they could supply decaf coffee and tea, which they did promptly (thank you for that). I also asked whether there were showers and changing rooms at the pool — I was told yes, but there weren’t any. The pool itself was lovely, and the kids had a great time. However, back in the room, the shower was dreadful — barely a weak dribble. It felt like an attempt to save water, but in practice, you end up showering for ten times as long. We had lunch at Sal’s (which took ages to arrive and was just about acceptable) and dinner at Mama Della’s, which had a great wine list and excellent service, but again, the food was only mediocre. Breakfast was a buffet — perfectly fine, but nothing to write home about. Overall, it’s a nice hotel, but given the price and reputation, I expected much better. I am used to hotels if a similar calibre offering a better service. Oh and I forgot to mention when you walk into the room there is some lovely warm Fiji water for $8! Supply some water without the shipping miles FOC I am no eco mad person but this just annoyed me.
