Visited on a mother-daughter trip for some quality time. I hadn't visited Universal Orlando since about 1991, so I basically treated it as my first time. We stayed here for a few reasons, namely the unlimited express passes that came with our stay, but also the walking path to IOA and UO. It's a quick walk to the parks from the property, and you can also take the boats when your feet are tired. We found the grounds were lovely and it's a larger hotel than I originally thought. We stayed club level, which was okay, but the offerings weren't as great for breakfast and dinner; I probably wouldn't splurge on club level again at this resort. We'd previously stayed club level at some Disney resorts and the offerings at WDW are much stronger and feels like breakfast. LRP breakfast was very much a quick bite and we were usually leaving hungry, or at least not full enough for a park morning without stopping for a bite elsewhere. We liked the pool and it really seems to have something for everyone: zero depth and sandy area for the littles, slides and deeper sections for the bigs. The grounds are gorgeous. The elephant fountain area is looking a little rough (not as nice and fresh as in the photos.) There are plenty of places to eat and drink on property, and you can also get food delivered if that's your jam. Are the on-site meals and stores expensive? Yes, that's to be expensive. But the perks of the unlimited fast passes and proximity to the parks cannot be beat. Read less

We paid extra to stay in one of the 3 hotels we could get the unlimited fast pass and were glad we did. It meant we got on every ride we wanted (some multiple times) with minimal wait times (except at Epic and Volcano Bay where our fast passes weren’t valid). We splashed out on a king suite room, as this was after a week spent in a Disney moderate resort room and we knew we’d be tired. It was so spacious, the bed was enormous- it could fit all four of us if we wanted to! In the lounge we requested a fold-up bed for one child and the other slept on the sofa bed. The room was clean and had lots of storage cupboards/drawers. It was a bit odd that you couldn’t lock/shut the toilet door properly (it was just a sliding door next to the sink area). Not much privacy. I’d requested a room high up in tower 1 (we were level 6) and we had the most incredible views from our room of the parks and the fireworks at night- a lovely surprise! We arrived around 8am ish on our first day straight from our Disney resort, expecting to check in and leave our bags whilst we went to the parks, and were so happy when they said our room was already ready! Was nice sorting out our stuff at that point, rather than when tired at the end of the day. The pool was nice, although our kids were disappointed about the lack of slides/features. The boat splash play bit had freezing water and wasn’t much fun. Also there was only one male and one female toilet by the poolside which meant some uncomfortable waits for my daughter when she left it to the last minute to go. We did like all of the beach balls that were in the pool to use though. We had a meal from the poolside Bula bar and grill and the portions were enormous! The staff were very attentive, walking round the sun loungers asking if we wanted to order anything etc. Grateful for the iced, fruit-infused water by the towel dispensing station. The Tuk Tuk market was ok for breakfast options but always had quite a long queue to pay. Read less

Hotel construction in the lobby and near pool was not noted on the Universal Orlando Resort website when I made my reservation months before my stay or during my stay. When we arrived they gave us a room on the third floor, but when we went to the room to put our items in it we found that the room safe did not work. They sent up a service member to replace a battery but after two visits and 1.5 hour later he could not fix it. My children wanted to go to the theme park so we brought all our luggage to the bell service and requested another room. We had to go through check-in again for new room keys. We were over 2 hours late getting to the theme park. When we returned from the park, our new room was on the 1st floor with a bush as our view. We were told the day after we checked-out that the front desk compensated us a roll-away bed charge and breakfast vouchers. On my bill receipt that I needed to contact the hotel the day after we checked out, because I never received an email of my bill after check out the credit for the bed is there. We were never told about breakfast vouchers and there were 5 of us standing at the desk when we checked in to get our room cards. Customer service told me we were given the vouchers even when I explained we were never told about breakfast vouchers or given them. There were ducks swimming in the pool while we were in the pool and lots of garbage floating as well. We will not be staying at this hotel in the future. It's disappointing, because we have stayed here 3 times before with a much better experience. Read less

We are from Florida and have frequented the three Universal Hotels over the years, with Portofino being our usual one. This time we tried a different property and it was disappointing. It’s expensive, but worth it for the Fast Passes. Still, the Florida resident rate at $555 a night is significant and there are minimum expectations for quality. The service is - as always - very good. But the cleanliness and general upkeep is lacking. Walking in, there was a person smoking weed right outside the door. Fun times walking through that with my family. The pool bathroom was beyond disgusting. Worse than a gas station bathroom. In the lobby, the couches were wet from people sitting on them. There’s just no quality control. In the super market/cafe, a family was lunching with their barking dog. And in the gym last night, no water in the fridge. Finally, the elevator floors were wet presumably from families coming from the pool. There are thousands of people passing through here daily. Universal needs to have staff walking through and picking up/enforcing rules. It’s a trashy free for all at this point and I cannot recommend this hotel. Read less

We stayed here for our holiday back in May, and to be honest I did expect a little more but overall it was a great stay. We decided to go all out for our trip and at the time this was the cheapest of the premium hotels on site. Pros- Fast Track Unlimited and early entry. I do think most of the price point is reflecting this however looking back it was so so helpful for those hot days to just be able to dip in and out of the parks as and when. The walk to the parks is quick and efficient (or boat ride which is a nice option). The pool is also great, the hotel has it's own little ducks and ducklings and it was just the best watching them randomly swim past people's heads doing their own thing. The hotel common areas are also amazing and stunning. The bridge into the hotel, reception and bar are just so so pretty and the staff here are really professional and you do feel like you're in a premium hotel. The rooms has great amenities and were really spacious and we loved having our fridge. The bed is super comfortable and the pillows are unreal. We also had a pretty view of the gardens. Cons - The cost. This hotel is expensive but a HUGE part of that is those guest benefits. So if you don't plan to be in a park everyday maybe reduce the stay time. The hotel pool bar (despite the drinks being really good) and on site shop are really quite pricey so I'd avoid these if staying in future. There was a hiccup one day with the card machines going down but the staff member on site was so lovely she offered my item to me free of charge which was very thoughtful. If you do choose to stay here just pop to Walmart and use the in room fridge. The hallways are also dated and could use updating - there is an odd smell by the lifts most likely from the kitchen that could do with being addressed. Secondly the rooms. They really do need updating decor wise a really small thing that could make a huge change. Also, soundproofing. We did have an issue with a nightmare next door neighbour who seemed to enjoy having screaming matches with her kids and her partner. Again I can't complain too much the staff were incredible about this and resolved quickly along with gifting us the most amazing treat basket to our room whilst we were out. The staff are very very good and with some minor changes the hotel could easily hit 5 stars. Dependant on the price I would stay here again Read less
