The hotel

The closest hotel to the Magic Kingdom Park is the height of retro, '70s cool. The monorail enters the lobby through a 'curtain' of air to drop off and pick up. The stylish, gourmet 15th-floor California Grill restaurant offers incredible bird's-eye views over the Magic Kingdom Park (perfect for the evening fireworks), or you can meet your favourite characters in Chef Mickey's Restaurant. If you're not at the park during the day, there's a big swimming pool, tennis courts and even the option of renting a boat and cruising around Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon - and come the end of the day, tired parents can revive themselves in the cocktail lounge.

The reason for the low rating is that we found cockroaches in our bathroom during the night. We let the front desk know and they did move our room but with two young children who likes to move rooms at 2am and found it hard to sleep in the new room wondering if we would get visitors again. We mentioned it on check out but just got an ‘oh sorry’. Did email the GM but have not had a response yet. For the price it was not the experience I expected. Read less

We reserved a water view room in the separate building section of the resort or I call them "the cheap seats" lol as they are the rooms that are the most reasonable at the Contemporary. We arrived to find out we were upgraded to a lake view in the main building. The view was beautiful!! We could see the water parade in the distance at night. The room was clean, but I am not a fan of the Incredibles theming. I am sure a lot of people like it but ........meh..... to me. Everything was wonderful EXCEPT using the monorail at this resort is really a challenge - especially with a scooter. You have to go up and down a SINGLE elevator to get to the monorail and it is always packed with a line. It is challenging to get in and out - getting out at times can be backed up right to the elevator doors!! You feel like you are intruding just to get out as it appears you are cutting the line. Thankfully, you can easily walk over to Magic Kingdom and avoid that busy crazy monorail section. Otherwise, the quick service was nice, Chef Mickeys was wonderful. All in all, a great stay. Our family recently stayed on the 14th floor club level at the Contemporary Resort. I consider this to be the hidden gem on Disney property. When you step off the elevator you realize you are on a floor that doesn't look down into the atrium. It is like being in a boutique hotel. This floor contains suites and a handful of rooms. I know you may think the price is high, but if you have a large family and want club level, this guarantees that you will all be together. The suites are beyond spacious and the 2 bedroom will easily accommodate a family of 8. The staff is extraordinary and because the number of rooms is limited there is always someone there to assist you. The food offerings are great and if you have allergies, as my family does, you can speak directly to a chef who will be sure to provide you with safe and delicious options. This is a great place to unwind after a hectic day in the parks. And, most importantly there are Mickey Mouse ice cream bars and sandwiches in the lounge! Read less

The sights upon arrival are stunning just for the atmosphere of the atrium and the restaurants that are located 1 level down, including a steakhouse on another lower level. Rooms in the wing of the hotel are spacious and comfortable. But then again you’re not just there for the hotel. Just a short walk away from the Magic Kingdom entrance or a short ride via the monorail that takes you other surrounding resort locations before arriving at the Magic Kingdom. Fantastic experience overall. Read less

This feels like classic WDW. We've stayed twice and both were fantastic. The club level staff on the 12th floor is amazing and so accommodating. We have always had restful, restorative sleep after long days at the parks, and we've never felt like the noise level from the 4th floor concourse was excessive (though I'd likely feel different if I… Read more

We have always had restful, restorative sleep after long days at the parks, and we've never felt like the noise level from the 4th floor concourse was excessive (though I'd likely feel different if I stayed on the 5th or 6th floor.) The views are fantastic, the walk to MK is extremely quick (10 mins door to door,) and we love the pool area as well. Read less
