Image of the Tripadvisor rating Bait-and-switch resort experience with roaches for the cherry on the top.

Bait-and-switch resort experience. The photos highlight the sleek, modern tower—but unless you pay extra, you’ll likely be placed in the older casita section behind it, which feels more like apartment units than a resort. To make matters worse, we woke up to find roaches in the room. I brought this up to the manager, but he didn’t seem concerned.… Read more

To make matters worse, we woke up to find roaches in the room. I brought this up to the manager, but he didn’t seem concerned. His response was simply that I could move to another casita or they could call in pest control—not exactly the level of care or service you’d expect. Read less

I wasn’t expecting it to feel as upscale as it did—our suite had a separate bedroom, 1.5 bathrooms, and a really sleek, modern design. It felt more like a high-end hotel than what you’d normally expect from a “moderate” Disney resort. What made the biggest impression on us, though, was the service in the Chronos Club. The staff there were warm, attentive, and just genuinely helpful every time we stopped by. I want to give a special shoutout to Maddie (Madison Sarnoff)—she was so friendly and kind, and really went out of her way to take care of us. It made a huge difference in our trip. One person in our group has a butter allergy, and every morning the lounge team made fresh eggs just for them without any issue. That kind of thoughtfulness really stood out. The lounge itself was peaceful, and it was nice having food and drinks available throughout the day—especially after long mornings in the parks. Everything felt clean, calm, and welcoming. We’ve stayed at some of the deluxe resorts before, and honestly, this experience held its own—if not topped a few of them. Gran Destino is definitely underrated. I kind of didn’t want to write this review because I’ve been secretly hoping it stays a hidden gem! Read less

In need of a facelift, very average hotel, lacking any sort of soul. Staff were a hit and miss; the good ones are in the restaurants working off tips. The reception desk and food kiosks were a hit and miss of good vs a few dishevelled or curt staff. Housekeeping though, they were a great chirpy bunch. Rooms were pretty basic and a shelf above the sinks meant the floor got wet whenever you bent to wash your face. Bathroom extractor kicks off all the time, noisy and most annoying. Other reviewers comments about next door noises all very real, thankfully I requested a quiet room so I only had neighbours half my stay and used earplugs. Convention centre looked 80s and cold looking. Not sure what the hype is to have conventions here but pretty overhyped for me. Oh and water from the vending machine for $5USD a bottle left the biggest impression! Read less

We stayed April 12-19. We were in Casitas 4. We loved having the bus stop just across the parking lot. We found getting the buses was no issues to the parks or to Disney Springs. However our room we are not thrilled with. It did its job in terms of a place to sleep and shower. The room did not have enough seating for 4 people, the amount of plugs for charging phones we had to search for. But we did manage to find them. About 2 days in to our stay our neighbours on both sides and above arrived. We ended up being able to hear full on conversations in both rooms beside us. We also heard their alarms each morning. Above us we heard them moving around constantly. One morning I did wake up to some adult noises happening in the room next to us. Having the window to look into each others rooms we were not found of. We did try to pull the curtain closed when we left each day so no one could look into our room. In terms of the drink stations they only had 3. 2 of them in being in the main building, the other at the pool. The one at the pool only had coca cola products. The other 2 had Sweet Tea and Chocolate as well. In terms of the food options we were unable to find anything that we could eat as we are not big on mexican food. However we were able to eat in the parks each day or at Disney Springs. Would I stay here again going to the parks probably not. If I was staying over night for a short time before a cruise or moving to a new hotel I might consider staying in the tower. On our checkout day a prom was going on. We were waiting off to the side on some couches waiting for our ride when a photographer came up and said us and all of our stuff had to move as they were doing prom pictures. She had also asked several other guests to move so they could do prom photos. We were not very happy that we had to move our 4 big suitcases and carry ons just so they could take a few photos when they could have gone elsewhere. Hotel Cast members did speak to them but they did not care or listen that resort guests come first. Read less
