Where is it

On the western edge of the Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Transfer time from Malé International Airport: 35 minutes by seaplane (remember to pack light for the seaplane transfer as luggage allowance is 20kg plus 5kg hand luggage, per person).

Over Water Villas with an outdoor deck and steps leading straight into the lagoon, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Four Bedroom Ocean View Pavilions are also available, and are ideal for families or groups of friends travelling together. Sleeping maximum 8 adults and 4 children.

From the moment we landed in Malé and were whisked away by seaplane, we knew we were in for something special. Our overwater villa at AVANI + Fares was pure luxury—spacious, spotless, and offering endless views of the turquoise Indian Ocean. We could snorkel right off our deck and saw rays, reef sharks, and colorful fish daily. The staff were exceptional—warm, discreet, and always anticipating our needs. A special thanks to our host Ayan who was at our disposal 24/7 for anything we need. The food was varied and high quality, from Maldivian seafood to international dishes. We spent a relaxing and enjoyable holiday at the Avani+ Fares Resort. The resort is new, very well-maintained, and overall beautifully designed. However, there are a few points we would like to highlight: • Friendly Staff: The entire team was exceptionally friendly and attentive – definitely a major plus. • Beach Villa: We booked a Beach Villa, which was beautifully designed but unfortunately very impractical. There was a lack of storage space such as wardrobes or shelves. Compared to other resorts, the villa was relatively small, although it did feature both an indoor and an outdoor shower. Honestly, we would have gladly traded the indoor shower (who needs one on the Maldives anyway?) for more space and a built-in wardrobe. • No Sea View: Our Beach Villa did not have a view of the beach or the sea. Dense vegetation around the villa completely blocked the view, even though the beach was just a few steps away. Additionally, the veranda was in the shade. In other resorts, such villas would likely be classified as "Garden Villas." This was disappointing. After five days, the management offered us a chance to move to one of the very few villas with a sea view. However, since we had already spent considerable time organizing and storing our belongings (see the previous point), we decided against the move. • Dining: We booked half-board, which was perfectly fine for us. A big plus was the option to choose between three different restaurants for dinner. However, additional items such as drinks or snacks were relatively expensive. • Not a Barefoot Island: If, like us, you enjoy the Maldives for the opportunity to walk around barefoot without shoes or sandals, you might be disappointed. This resort is not a typical barefoot island. • Air-Conditioned Restaurant: A new and somewhat unusual experience for us was the buffet restaurant with enclosed, heavily air-conditioned spaces. It was the first time we felt cold on the Maldives. As a result, we often opted for other restaurants or went early to the buffet to secure one of the outdoor tables. It’s worth noting that approximately 90% of the guests seem to come from Russian and Asian regions and may expect air-conditioned spaces. • House Reef: The house reef was an absolute highlight! It is stunning and perfect for snorkeling. • Dive Center: The dive center and its guides are excellent. We found the dive trips to be a very positive experience. • Traffic on the Island: Surprisingly, there was a lot of traffic on the island’s "roads" due to electric vehicles. You constantly have to step aside, which slightly disrupts the idyllic atmosphere. Particularly odd was the electric taxi service that operates on this relatively small island. Read less
