We’ve just returned from the most incredible holiday at Centara Mirage Lagoon Maldives. We are a family of four (my husband and I, and our two children aged 10 and 8) and stayed in a stunning overwater villa with a jacuzzi and direct access to the crystal-clear, turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.
I had always wondered whether the Maldives would live up to the hype—but it truly exceeded every expectation. The scenery is breathtaking, and the people are among the kindest and most attentive we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Our villa was immaculate, and the housekeeping team did a fantastic job throughout our stay. The beaches were pristine, with powdery white sand, and the sea was calm, warm, and unbelievably clear. We made the most of the included activities—snorkelling, paddle boarding, kayaking, and pedalo—and also took an excursion to the house reef, where we saw beautiful fish and even a reef shark! Jet skiing was another highlight, and once again, the service from the Best Dives team was first class.
The resort itself is wonderfully family-friendly. The swimming pool was lovely, and the lazy river and splash park were a huge hit with the kids. There was always something to keep them entertained. It was also incredibly reassuring to see lifeguards present at both the pool and beach areas, which really highlights how seriously the resort takes safety. They were not only attentive but also very friendly, adding to the overall relaxed and secure atmosphere.
The children especially loved the painting activity—unfortunately I can’t remember the artist’s name, but he was incredibly kind, patient, and encouraging. He took the time to ensure they were truly happy with their artwork, giving them a meaningful souvenir to take home.
We loved the relaxed atmosphere of the Sailhouse restaurant, with its extensive buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Italian and Thai à la carte restaurants were both excellent as well—we enjoyed mixing things up, and every meal we had was consistently delicious.
What truly sets this resort apart, however, is the staff. Every single person—from the waiters and waitresses to the pool and beach bar team—was attentive, friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile. A very special mention must go to Alex, Hoody and Zameen at the Sailhouse restaurant, who made our experience unforgettable. They welcomed us so warmly each day and ensured we were always well looked after. Not only was their service exceptional, but their genuine kindness made a lasting impression on our whole family—so much so that my son was in tears when it was time to say goodbye. They are absolute treasures, and I truly hope they receive the recognition they deserve for the joy they bring to their guests.
Maldives—you have completely stolen our hearts.
