✈️ Recap from the most incredible holiday in the Maldives 🇲🇻 We stayed at Ellaidhoo Cinnamon Maldives on the end of July, and honestly, it was beyond magical! Even though it’s technically monsoon season, we only had about 15 minutes of rain the whole trip. The island itself is so charming – you can literally walk around it in just 30 minutes. 🏝️ Highlights? Snorkeling alongside sharks and manta rays (a total bucket-list moment 🦈🌊), endless shades of turquoise water, and the absolute top of the trip – renting a private island for the day. Just the two of us surrounded by nothing but ocean and white sand… it was surreal 💫 ✨ Maldives fact: The country is made up of 1,192 islands spread across 26 atolls, but only about 200 are inhabited – making it one of the most unique destinations on Earth. Image of the Tripadvisor rating A beautiful island with amazing staff and food, but the dive center needs improvement.

Liked · From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcome with a clear orientation about the island and its facilities (restaurants, beach, etc.). The team is truly the highlight of this resort — especially Joie and Gassim. Joie is polite, fun to talk to, and always helpful, while Gassim, being a local, shared so much valuable knowledge about the island and its people. Both are AMAZING AND FULL OF LIFE. The beach is beautiful, very clean, with soft magical sand. Both dining options — the buffet and à la carte restaurant — were excellent, with plenty of variety. The drinks included in the All-Inclusive package cater to all tastes, which was a big plus. Prices overall felt reasonable, and there are plenty of activities to enjoy, from snorkeling and diving to boat trips to local islands and fishing excursions. Disliked · The island is mainly focused on diving and snorkeling. If water sports aren’t your interest, you might find the activities a bit limited compared to other resorts. The beach itself is on the smaller side, and some areas are protected with large cement structures, which affect the natural aesthetic of the view. My biggest disappointment was the dive center. LESS POINTS. During my diving experience, I encountered one staff member who was unfortunately very rude and displayed an arrogant attitude. He was dismissive, spoke sharply, and made the whole interaction feel stressful rather than enjoyable. It felt more like dealing with a strict “diving sergeant” than a welcoming instructor, which was disappointing considering the otherwise relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the resort. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Probably the best house-reef snorkelling in the Maldives for a very fair 4-star price.

This is a very honest resort that is priced very fairly at a 4-star Maldives range which is a fair deal for the rooms which are clean and modern but to a simpler standard. This is a very honest resort that is priced very fairly at a 4-star Maldives range which is a fair deal for the rooms which are clean and modern but to a simpler standard. The buffett is as good as any high quality 4-star (and even lower 5-stars) in the Maldives (full range of international dishes that would get in any 4-star/lower-5-star modern Asian hotel). The service is excellent with tables cleared immediately and staff who are very responsive and helpful. The bar is large and very attractive. I have stayed in other Cinnamon 4-5 star hotels in Sri Lanka and they are quality. The resort is very accessible to the 4-star traveller with drinks at fair prices, unlimted laundry for circa $30 during stay, and boat / snorkelling trips starting at at $50-60. Despite being in the Ari atoll, they also offer free / cheaper speedboat transfer to-from resort (a sea plane in Maldives is circa $500 per head), however the speedboat (a large enclosed cabined boat that take +25 people seated) can get very bumpy in poorer weather. Would be great if the resort could get the heavier speedboats that resorts like the Oblu Helengeli have which are a similar size but much smoother. The USP of Ellaidhoo is the house-reef which I think is one of the best in the Maldives. My family of 5 snorkelled the entire outer reef in a clock-wise circle (staying along the reef drop off) in 2 hours and saw a staggering range of fish (mooray eels, reef sharks, turtles, octopus and any number of fish and large shoals). This is because Ellaidhoo is situated in a location of major water channels. Even around the dive-centre / pier area, you will many reef sharks (harmless but make great pictures), fish and turtles. Most Maldivean house-reefs are bleached but Ellaidhoo has a lot of re-growth. The quid-quo-pro of the location of Ellaidhoo is that they had to build a low (knee high) concrete wall at the beach line, and another nearer to the outer-reef, to protect the Island. That does affect the "asthetic" a bit (although there are still places for the Instagram "endless beach" shots). However, it does mean that the lagoon (the place between the two walls) is very safe with very little current and still getting a lot of sea life and even corals at the inner part of the outer wall. At several gaps the wall, they have blue bollards in the lagoon along which an under-water rope guides you out between the appropriate gaps in the outer wall to the reef drop off. I think the Ellaidhoo should do more to really develop this rope system (like the Oblu Helengeli) to entice visitors to snorkel the entire outer reef which will show them more sea life than any diving trip I have even taken. Having been to other Maldivian resorts notable for house-reef snorkelling, I don't any really compare to Ellaidhoo. Read less

Ansolutely wonderful. The place is so pretty and full of nature everywhere you look. From sharks to crabs, you can all see it from your room (we took the water villa). Stunning stay, kind people and amazing food. We will be back❤️
