The hotel

The Hard Rock name has hit the Maldives, bringing its inimitable chill out scene to the ultimate laidback location. A new concept in the Maldives, it’s more than just barefoot luxury and days of sunbathing, swimming, and snorkelling (although there’s plenty of that too). A footbridge links you to the Marina @ CROSSROADS, where a Hard Rock Café, Beach Club, and a dining village await. And, being a Hard Rock hotel, you’ll also find VIP-worthy treats in store, like Rock Spa® treatments, super-chic eateries (The All-Inclusive option here takes your taste buds beyond the resort too, meaning you can dine around at SAii Lagoon and The Marina @ CROSSROADS), and exclusive ‘Sound of Your Stay’ music moments, including complimentary use of Fender guitars and Crosley turntables — all just 15 minutes speedboat ride from the airport.

This resort was absolutely fabulous! The staff were incredibly friendly and so helpful! Nothing was an effort to make our stay as comfortable as possible! We celebrated a birthday where we received a sparkling wine and a delectable cake and special mention of Nazrul who created the most beautiful artwork out of flowers and palm fronds on the bed. He was so lovely and is so talented to create something so special! Such a spoil! We also attended the Latin evening on the beach which was divine! The breakfasts are amazing and the pool was wonderful. The Marina is great place to venture to too as it offers many restaurants. We did a snorkelling trip which was out of this world! We also thoroughly enjoyed watching the resident sting ray venture past our over-water cabin every now and then! Overall this was a holiday of a lifetime and we will most definitely be back!!!! We arrived today for our third stay at The Hard Rock Hotel Maldives. We travel as a family of four (myself, my husband and our two daughters (4&7)). We stayed previously in June 2022 for two weeks and came back in July 2024 for three weeks. We are here again now for another three weeks so will leave another review at the end. We have stayed previously in the duplex silver family suite, a platinum over water villa and platinum over water villa with pool. This time we have opted for a diamond over water villa with pool. Each time we come here we are welcomed by staff that we genuinely look forward to seeing. Staff that have seen our daughters grow over the years and who really add that extra something special to how we feel on holiday. We have always stayed on an all inclusive basis and this works well for our family. We aren’t huge drinkers when it comes to alcohol but we manage to go through a lot of water, non alcoholic drinks and smoothies throughout our stays. The restaurants are great and we are always able to make a reservation that suits us by ringing reception. Our only niggle with the all inclusive is that it doesn’t include mini bar stock - we racked up a bill last time but we are convinced that it was included in our stay in 2022. This does make using our Villa pool less luxurious as we have to go to the main bar to get drinks rather than paying the ~$10 per drink in the minibar. The kids club is great and our girls have adored the lovely Icha since they met her back in 2022. She is well and truly part of our holiday and it is so good to be back to see her. The activities that are on for the children are amazing and our girls never get bored here. They especially love the aerial arts with Lauren - another one of our favourites! We never send the children to kids club, they go when they want to and that in itself speaks volumes. The main bar is wonderful. Hassa and his friends take extra good care of us and we want for nothing when we are around the main pool. There isn’t much of a wait for a drink and this is down to how well the bar is run each and every day. The purple slide is a hit with our girls - they love it and it is a reason why we return. The pool is always clean and the lifeguard is always ensuring that the pool users are being respectful. The girls love taking their pool floats into the pool for a play. If you do want pool floats, bring your own and the staff will inflate for you. There are so many staff to mention (Pat, Martin, Ranga, the abracadabra entertainment team from 2022/24) and how they make our stay memorable each time, but I will name and praise them individually in our next review when we leave. HRH Maldives is undeniably stunning — the location is beautiful, and the villas are well-appointed with great amenities. The villa was even beautifully decorated for a birthday celebration, a warm, thoughtful and much-appreciated touch. However, the room layout felt awkward, with no door separating the bathroom and a mirror positioned directly facing the bathroom area, which made the setup feel uncomfortable and lacking in privacy. The staff were consistently kind, friendly, and professional throughout the stay, which was greatly appreciated and contributed positively to the overall atmosphere. That said, logistical issues were frequent — buggy transportation was often delayed or failed to arrive altogether, with wait times sometimes close to or exceeding an hour, even after repeat requests. The most disappointing aspect was the misleading information around dining. The hotel website advertises buffet service for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with à-la-carte options. In reality, no lunch buffet was provided during the entire stay, and dinner buffet service happened only once during the week. None of these limitations were disclosed in advance. This lack of transparency significantly affected the value of the stay and led to notable disappointment. A half-board option would be far more appropriate than full-board or all-inclusive, as breakfast provides a generous, varied, and flavorful selection that could easily sustain most guests through to dinner. While the natural beauty, amenities, staff, and personal touches were impressive, the misleading dining information and recurring transportation delays had a tangible impact on the overall experience. Time that could have been spent enjoying the beach was too often lost simply waiting for basic services like transportation to and from dining areas, with some lunches taking up to three hours start to finish, including waiting and travel time. Overall, this felt more like a 2.5-star experience — but since that's not an option, 3 stars seems fair. Read less
