The start was a bit bumpy: a five-hour wait for the seaplane in the hotel's otherwise pleasant lounge. While waiting, I noticed something peculiar: in the middle of July, most of the music playing was Christmas music. This gave me my first concern that this hotel did not pay attention to details or has a somewhat laissez-faire approach to certain things. This continued throughout the week... The next surprise came at check-in: even though we had booked a large water villa with a pool and two bedrooms for over USD 10,000 (room only) we still had to pay USD 10 per bike per day. That's petty, especially when you consider that it takes a good 20 minutes to walk from the large water villas to the restaurant each way. But there weren't enough bikes anyway; we only got two at first, and then two more a day later. On the good side: the buggy service was good. Then came the next strange surprise: the specialty restaurants were already fully booked for days, so we had to go to the main restaurant, Turquoise, for the first few evenings. And this is where the hotel's biggest problem begins: the evening buffet was really not good. The worst buffet in many, many years. Even on cheap mass cruise ships, the buffet is better. The icing on the cake: even if you went to dinner right at the beginning of the buffet, certain dishes, such as salads, were already soggy. Someone should explain them the problem of osmosis and green salads. But eventually, we managed to get into the specialty restaurants. We wanted to check out the menus in advance via QR code in our room, but it didn't work (at least not on iOS devices). Just one of many further examples for the small glitches in this hotel. At least the food in the specialty restaurants is good, especially the Japanese one is excellent. Then, at the end of our week, again we had to wait almost five hours in the lobby for the seaplane! We've been vacationing in the Maldives every year for over 20 years now, sometimes even twice a year. We've had lots of transfers by seaplane, but it's never been as bad as it was here! The positive aspects of the hotel are the friendly people and the truly excellent dive center. The dive base saved our holiday in the end. Conclusion: You can have a nice vacation here as long as you can overlook the poor food at the dinner buffet and the many small glitches. Read less

My Husband and I decided on Le Meridien Maldives for our honeymoon, after a lot of back and forth on where to go and where to stay - and I could not have been more ecstatic with how that decision turned out! I don't even know where to begin, so i'll start with the rooms. gorgeous and clean- housekeeping comes twice a day! The bathroom is UNREAL, the tub overlooking the water in the overwater villas is next-level amazing. Being able to snorkel off your deck is incredible, and the house reef is truly to die for. The deck is spacious and private, the bed is COMFORTABLE as anything, and the general vibe is cozy and quaint - with some quirky decor. Huge closet, separate toilet, and excellent rainfall shower. Chef's kiss, no notes. You also get free flip flops to wear for your stay, as well as daily robe refreshes and a hotel bag. They seem insignificant, but they matter! The activities were AMAZING. We did the honeymoon package - snorkeling with sharks, tubing and dolphin cruise. Snorkeling was INCREDIBLE. You get to jet ski out to the ocean and hop into the water with a TON of sharks and other marine life! Our guide, Mahga (i think that's how to spell it!) was so knwoledgeable, he was able to explain about different animal habits and point out things we would have otherwise missed, like a GIANT sting ray resting in the sand, or a baby lobster chilling on a rock. He was fearless and made us feel so safe! The Dolphin cruise was INSANE - they clarify that there's no guarantee you see dolphins, but boy did we! We had an overflow of guests on the cruise so a few of us went out on a smaller boat, and we were so close you could touch them (we didn't, I swear!) The captain was so knowledgeable and friendly, and we even saw a pilot whale while following a pod of 6 dolphins around a few of the local islands! I feel like i need to leave a whole separate review on the food, but it was completely outstanding. Chef Schoab, Chef Devon, and Chef Pradeep went ABOVE AND BEYOND in every way to make our daily meals special. It got to the point where my husband was more excited to see Pradeep than me ;) The food was absolutely amazing. Velaa - Pradeep cooks a mean rack of lamb, his steaks are unreal, and his PIZZA - my gosh! AMAZING! Chef Schoab can cook anything, i'm convinced. It all tasted so fresh and healthy, yet indulgent. His whole staff was incredible and can I say, the chocolate cake was UNREAL! Waves Cafe, underrated gem. The service - Mahduri, Xavi, etc. are all incredible. Chef Devon always made the tastiest breakfasts, and his Indian and Maldivian dinners at turquoise were absolute perfection. The flavors, the vibrancy, everything - just incredible. The overall staff, again, is just incredible - the kindness, cordiality, the community they built is just second to none. Run - don't walk - to stay here! A hidden gem :) Read less

Ali’s service was also very nice and I’m very grateful for your help that time when we had some problem and you are willing to help so late into the night. We really got to enjoy the stay every night and the ocean views made the stay even better. Everyone is so welcoming and warm around here, and we enjoyed it very much. Ali helped around so much, making our stay less stressful and more enjoyable. The scuba diving coaches were also a huge shine part of this trip. Overall the stay and the services we got here was really good, we also enjoyed these days a lot, even though during the fishing day we only got 2 fish 😂 Thank you so much for everything you guys did that made this trip so special to us and the kids, really appreciate it[Fight][Fight] Read less

We were in the Maledives for our honeymoon. The Le Meridian is located on a beautiful, secluded Island - a true paradise. What made it truly special through were the people - super kind, caring, attentive to the smalles of details. We felt like part of the family
