Our stay at Meyyafushi was, without question, one of the most unforgettable experiences of our lives.
I chose this resort after spending countless hours researching the Maldives. I was planning to propose to my girlfriend of seven years, so I wanted somewhere that was not only breathtakingly beautiful, but also offered plenty of experiences beyond simply relaxing on the beach. Meyyafushi stood out immediately, and after spending eight nights there, I can honestly say it exceeded every expectation we had.
From the moment we landed in the Maldives, everything was perfectly organized. We were greeted at the airport by a friendly resort representative who immediately made us feel welcome, shared stories about the Maldives, and escorted us to the seaplane lounge. It was the perfect start to our trip.
When we arrived at the resort, we were welcomed by the team with smiles and applause, which instantly made us feel special. We were then introduced to our host, Dia, who deserves the biggest thank you of this review.
Throughout our stay, Dia was simply exceptional. She was always available, incredibly kind, and genuinely invested in making our holiday perfect. Whether it was organizing restaurants, activities, answering our questions, or helping coordinate one of the biggest moments of our lives, everything was handled effortlessly.
I had planned a surprise proposal followed by a private dinner, and Dia helped bring every detail together flawlessly. The seafood menu in the private dinner was outstanding, being grilled just a few feet away from us. To make the evening even more special, I had arranged for the resort’s musicians, a singer accompanied by a saxophonist, to perform during our dinner. Their music created such an intimate and emotional atmosphere that it elevated an already unforgettable evening into something truly magical. Seeing my fiancée so happy, surrounded by great food, music, and the stunning Maldivian setting, is a memory we will cherish forever.
Although Dia was always quick to give credit to the rest of the team, she was our main point of contact and made us feel looked after every single day. She turned what could have been a stressful experience into one that was completely seamless, and we will always be grateful for everything she did.
We also booked the resort photographer, Zalu, and we could not have made a better decision. From the very beginning, he was incredibly friendly and immediately made us feel comfortable in front of the camera. Rather than simply photographing our proposal in a beautiful location, he captured the emotion of the moment itself. Every photo feels genuine and intimate, reflecting exactly how we felt that day rather than simply showcasing the scenery. The drone photographs he took the following day beautifully captured the island and gave us even more memories that we will treasure forever.
The resort itself is stunning. Every corner of the island is beautifully designed, impeccably maintained, and incredibly peaceful. One thing that really stood out was the warmth of everyone working there. Whether they were gardening, maintaining the island, or simply passing by, they would always greet us with a smile and place a hand over their heart. It’s such a small gesture, but it made us feel genuinely welcome from the first morning until the last day.
The food was excellent throughout our stay. Both à la carte restaurants were fantastic, with incredibly talented chefs, while the main restaurant consistently offered a great variety of fresh, high-quality food.
A special mention also goes to Mike, one of the servers in the main restaurant. We had the pleasure of being looked after by him several times, and his attentiveness never went unnoticed. He always seemed to know exactly when we needed our water or wine topped up, always checked that everything was perfect, and did so with genuine warmth and professionalism.
At the main bar, Jiff, the bartender, was simply outstanding. His positivity was contagious, his smile never seemed to fade, and he made some of the best cocktails we’ve ever had.
We also want to thank Nia, one of the servers at the main bar. She was equally kind, attentive, and always smiling. Nia created such a welcoming atmosphere that we found ourselves returning to the bar time and time again.
We also enjoyed the spa, which was included in our package, and it was fantastic. In fact, one of our only regrets is that we didn’t book another treatment before leaving.
The snorkeling excursion was another highlight of our stay, and once again everything was perfectly organized through Dia. We also loved exploring the island on the bicycles provided, which made getting around easy and enjoyable.
Perhaps what impressed us most was the consistency of the service. It wasn’t just exceptional on the first day or during special occasions—it remained exceptional every single day until the moment we left. Saying goodbye to Dia and Zalu at the end of our stay was surprisingly emotional because, in just over a week, they had become such a meaningful part of our experience.
Meyyafushi gave us far more than a luxury holiday. It gave us memories that will stay with us for the rest of our lives. It will always be the place where we got engaged, and because of the incredible people behind this beautiful resort, it will forever hold a very special place in our hearts.
