The hotel

Embrace island life at OBLU XPERIENCE Ailafushi, a lively retreat driven by smart services, playful design, and incredible experiences. Non-motorised water sports are included for 15 minutes a day, as is use of the over-water gym, so those who like to keep active will have lots to enjoy. This is a fun, lively island with lots going on including the daily DJ around the pool and live bands in the evening, but if you fancy making your stay even more special, why not head underneath it? A trip to Only BLU, the underwater restaurant, is an absolute must for a meal that you'll never forget.

Where is it

Located on Ailafushi Island in Male Atoll, and connected to the neighbouring island OBLU SELECT Lobigili by a 270m long jetty. Complimentary speedboat transfer from Velana International Airport on arrival and departure, taking approximately 15 minutes.

Hotel information

268 rooms, all with ocean views, in-villa WiFi access, safe, large flat screen LCD TV, cable TV, vanity, air conditioning, tea and coffee making facilities, drinking water bottles, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and robe and slippers. Ocean View Rooms are snug, homey, duplex-style one-bedroom villas, smartly designed to maximise space and comfort, and with a veranda with comfy daybed. With 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

All-Inclusive - The Fushi PlanTM

Beach Villas are just a few steps from the beach, with a private outdoor veranda and garden, inviting interior, walk-in wardrobe leading to a spa-like bathroom, double vanity, and a semi open-air bathroom. With 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Water Villas stretch into the dazzling lagoon, and are accessed by wooden jetty. Each water villa is shaped like a traditional Maldivian Boat – a ‘dhoni’ – creating a feeling of a romantic hideaway. With a private deck, and a staircase into the water, and a semi open-air bathroom. 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Ocean Family Two Bedrooms are the same as the Ocean View Rooms, with the addition of a second bedroom with bunkbeds in a story book theme for children, 2 bathrooms, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 2 children.

We came for our honeymoon and wow it’s paradise staff are amazing so friendly will do anything for you, accommodation is amazing, the whole place is amazing We would definitely return the whole team including animation are fabulous just absolute perfection

We stayed in a water villa. The bedroom is large with a separate outdoor bathroom. Amit was our housekeeper and he was fantastic, giving extra towels when needed and keeping the rooms spotless. The air-conditioning is really quiet and the beds are really comfortable. We went to the underwater restaurant which was amazing and although expensive a very worthwhile experience. The food in the buffet restaurant is plentiful for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We never struggled to find something to eat. There was a long wait from lunch until the evening meal with only popcorn available during the day and a Maldivian style snack between 5 and 6pm. You have to pay for anything else! The bar is great with your usual drinks available, music playing, pool tables and a large screen showing sports. Snorkeling was excellent with a myriad of fish and sharks right outside our room. The resort is kept very clean and tidy and the scenery is stunning. It definitely falls short of a 5-star resort, nevertheless, we had a lovely time. Read less

The downsides are the poor quality alcoholic beverages when the Caribbean, for one, offers much more and the buffet food which has an Indian curry house slant, as the kitchen staff seem to be mainly Indian as would be expected. This is often cold due to having to traipse around the buffet area to find something which you might like and then waste as it is inedible due to not being freshly cooked and of poor quality. They cannot cook eggs consistently to your liking. Is about 1 star for food and beverages. Would not pay more for the speciality restaurants and then probably be disappointed when quality food is expected in the first place . 2/3 star experience at best, never 4 star until the experience is enhanced. A relatively new man made island which needs more years for its landscaping to mature as the investment in this was obviously limited. Read less

We stayed at a wonderful water villa with a 24/7 access to crystal clear waters, spacious and very clean with a great open air bathroom supplied with high end amenities. The resort has many options for swimming, eating and entertainment. But what comes like a cherry on top is the always helpful, kind and efficient stuff (and I have proof since my luggage came 36 hours after me!) that makes OBLU a great hotel that you'll want to visit again (like us:)).
