The kids club was a fun and safe place for our kids. They did their best to accommodate kids of different age groups and age appropriate activities were communicated well so we knew exactly what was on offer for the day. Thank you to the team for taking good care of our little ones on the days they were there. Read less

The hotel overall is a nice hotel. Stunning beach views, overall though it is more 4 than 5 star. It just missed the little touches of luxury. The Awali is right next door to Le Telfair, which you walk through to get to the Beach club which is shared by both hotels. It is around a 10 mins walk. The golf house is around 15 mins walk. A shuttle is available. The All inclusive includes the buffet restaurant for breakfast and dinner. The Indian restaurant for dinner (closed Mondays), Infinity Blu for lunch and dinner and then the Beach club for lunch and dinner. Lunch at the golf house is also included. Breakfast had a good variety. Lunch was ok, but there is no food service at the pool and the lunch restaurants are nearly all main meals. The hotel is definitely missing some lighter lunch options. There is a snack hut which has a snack offering each day, apart from Sunday. This tended to be the same sandwich/wrap each day. Lunch is 12 - 3 everywhere and dinner is 7 - 10. Apart from the buffet, all dinner reservations have to be booked in advance. Apart from one day, we managed to get in each time. The golf clubhouse did have a great selection for lunch. Quite a few restaurants close Sunday night so the buffet is very busy. You can book at the hotel next door too, but there is an allowance towards dinner, which generally would cover a starter and the rest of the meal is billable. Nearly all seafood options, large prawns and lobster, had a significant supplement, in all restaurants. The food generally was ok. Several items on the menus were not available, or not as described. The best dish is the hotpot from the Infinity Blu, which is actually a soup. The buffet repeated a lot and although had different themes, the chef's choice, grill and Mauritian night were basically the same. The bread station was always nice. There is a pasta station, limited kids option, pizza, curries every night. It became very repetitive. We went to the Sunday brunch at the Beach club, the desserts were amazing. There is a nice gift shop in the hotel, which also has essentials such as mosquito spray (definitely needed) etc. There are two pools. One is the family pool, which is heated and has drinks service all day. The biggest issue is with sunbeds. People were putting towels down at 7am and then not turning up until 3pm. Towels should be removed if not used within 20 mins or so. There are also sunbeds on the beach. The current is very strong and it is hard to swim/snorkel. One day at the pool, there was a used nappy, which had been left from the day before. This was disgusting by the people who left it. I went and let 2 people know, but it stayed there all day. There is an adults pool too. We found drinks service was non existent unless it was really busy. The pool is also raised and in front of the bar/ main route to reception, so it is not very relaxing. The bar at night was good and Vishal was especially friendly and attentive. There is live music or a DJ each night. The DJ nights are good fun. The bar closes at 11. The room was in a renovated block. It was quite a basic room. The cleanliness was not good once we arrived. The floor was filthy and definitely not cleaned each day. The spa reopened the first day we went. It was ok, but none of the spa facilities were available the whole time we were there. Overall it was noisy the time we were there. We used the pedlo, table tennis and oedlos, which were all good. We had quite a bad leak in our ceiling the night before we left, which also resulted in the power needing to be switched off. The hotel did offer for us to change rooms but as we were leaving the next day, we decided not to. There was no mention at check out or any discussion about it, which was disappointing. Overall, it's a lovely setting and a nice hotel, but if looking for luxury, this is not the hotel for you. Read less
