The hotel

Infused with the charm of its sugar plantation past, this refined hotel retains its colonial style. A member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the hotel occupies a delightful setting in the Bel Ombre nature reserve, in a tropical garden through which the Citronniers River flows. Suites are spacious, decorated in 19th-century style but with an impressive range of amenities and a resident host at your service. The Seven Colours Spa is a serene haven, with treatments to harmonise body, mind and energy. There are two lovely pools including 1 adult-only heated pool (coming soon in November 2024), with access to an additional pool at C Beach Club, water sports in abundance and two nearby championship golf courses. Guests have access to 13 restaurants and eight bars across the Domaine de Bel Ombre — there's a wonderful selection of dining at Heritage Le Telfair, including Annabella’s on the banks of the river with an interactive show-kitchen, and Gin’Ja serving Pan Asian cuisine on the beach. Treat yourself to a meal at Le Chateau de Bel Ombre, an enchanting 19th-century manor house, or head to the trendy lifestyle hotspot, C Beach Club.

We stayed here with 2 other families and we all have young kids (4 year olds plus 1 year olds). I’m sure the hotel would be fine for older couples who want to play golf all day and eat bad food in stuffy restaurants but for anyone with kids - do yourself a favour and go somewhere else. There is a complete lack of high chairs in the resort. The ones avaliable were generally either about to break or were rusting. They were also dirty - even if you don’t want to buy new ones, please at least clean the high chairs. Staff aren’t welcoming to kids. At breakfast one waiter actually told one of the kids to be quiet. Everyone is staring at the kids making any sort of noise (our kids are well behaved!) There’s no kids food area / cutlery. The kids club is old and tired. The atmosphere in the resort towards kids is very much “please go away” which begs the question - why not just make this an adults only hotel. The main pool has literally no shade and the c-beach club has no sun beds anywhere near the pool. It wasn’t enjoyable to be at either. Awful trance music at c-beach and equally tragic atmosphere at the main pool. I’m not sure why so many people rave about the food / it’s honestly some of the worst I have ever had at a hotel. One “highlight” was the pool sandwich - despite the waiter telling us multiple times it was a chicken and bacon sandwich it was infact ham and egg mayo which was pre-made! So basically left overs from breakfast. The cost - £20. Breakfast they were making omelettes on a burger van grill. No food was replenished when empty. Had to ask for a weetabix! Overall everything they do food wise was trying to be “fancy” however it was basic and poorly done. I don’t know where the gourmet or the bliss were. For example - C beach evening ordered a steak, came with 7 small cubes of potatoes! Your sat beside a pool not at a Michelin star restaurant. The whole booking for restaurants days in advance / trousers for men / adults only / endless rules upon rules was just tiresome. You needed a degree to work it all out. For example the Asian restaurant kids can go up to 7pm but can’t dine there. Men need to wear trousers for literally no reason while sat on a beach infront of a closed restaurant. Resort is not accessible. No-one in a wheelchair should go here. Prams again very difficult to get around often getting stuck on the old tired paving. I also did not like the dress uniform of the staff. It was very colonial in a bad way and not at all modern or current. The spa was good and our butler (Shermain) was incredibly helpful. Overall - one to avoid. Read less

Very comfortable and peaceful setting . Kudos to Melvin for being a very welcoming host Staff around the resort are very welcoming and engage in genuine conversations with you. We were welcomed with surprises including a very sumptuous and romantic Asian themed candlelight dinner. Though veg options were limited for dinner , they were well curated and the desserts especially were brilliant. Kudos to the chefs Breakfast had a good variety with one Indian dish always to make us welcome The only uncomfortable part was one restaurant where we felt the staff was judgemental about us as Indians and were rude. They also claimed we did not pay even though we did. But this did not discourage us as the rest of the resort was extremely pleasant and we avoided the restaurant altogether The beach view from the reception on your arrival should set your mood for the day ! There are many activities around the hotel that you can partake in . The hotel is sustainable in its actions and that's a huge plus in this day and age. We would recommend this mini paradise on paradise island to everyone ! Regards Aditya and Varsha Read less

My wife and I along with extended family (7 of us in total) stayed here for several days and greatly enjoyed the experience which included the bliss package. The staff were all very generally friendly and helpful and our personal helper/coordinator Josh was a huge help in setting up excursions, reservations and addressing any concerns or needs in a timely manner. The rooms were very nice and comfortable and the room services were timely and discreet. While there was plenty of food options available, the buffet options were sometimes a little mild in terms of flavor and options but thats just my personal opinion. That being said the O'grill and the Chateau had hands down some of the best food we've had in a long time with amazing presentation. If i had to choose between the two I would highly reccomend the O'grill for breakfast lunch and dinner. The staff at the O'grill were very friendly and even talked to my wife and I about tattoos for awhile, this made us feel even more comfortable and welcomed. Furthermore we spent plenty of time at the Cavendish bar (lovingly referred to as the cavefish bar) throughout our stay and enjoyed the atmosphere but found the attention from staff a little lackluster, several times while spending time there we had to hunt down staff for service despite there being minimal to 0 patrons in the bar at the time. Small gripe =) Overall would reccomend and happily return. Read less

Le Tefair is a boutique hotel of understated luxury, with two quality golf courses. Restaurants are all worth a mention however the standout for me has always be Chateau Bel Ombre.

We had a fantastic time at Heritage Telfair – even the weather couldn’t dampen our spirits! The staff were absolutely lovely – incredibly friendly and helpful, always going the extra mile. We've stayed at four different resorts across the island, and hands down, this was the best hospitality we've experienced. Food was particularly good at O’Grill and Le Palmier (dinner). A special shoutout to the two Nathaniels, Abhi, Salomon (who took great care of us at the beach), and Glen at the Coco Shack – such brilliant hosts! The Gourmet Bliss and golf package were both top-notch, and we were seriously impressed by the range and quality of offerings throughout the hotel’s many venues. La Reserve was a highlight of our trip, phenomenal course and views! The buggy service between the hotel, golf course, and restaurants was super convenient too – a really nice touch. The property itself is stunning and clearly very well run. The only small downside for us was the beach – it's not really ideal for swimming as it's quite shallow. But apart from that, we honestly couldn’t fault a thing. Amazing stay! Read less
