“Same what disapointed”

Let me start by saying that this hotel is good on same points and bad on others. Good one: Lovely location with great gardens and a fantastic beach. Very good service by attentive and polite personnel. Great room’s minibar for the AI. Room was good with a comfortable bed. Plenty of sun beds for everybody, unless you get up at 11am. Great wine list for the AI, by glass or bottle, but avoid the Capmera label as it is less than mediocre. The desserts and cheeses selection at The Kitchen is very very good. Bad one I booked this hotel for the beach position and on the strength of the menus that one can still read in the Lux website to this day, but I was disappointed with the reality. The menus that are now in use are very different and of a very low quality regarding produces, ingredients and dishes. Gone are the yellow tuna, the whole grilled fish, the 6 type of pasta with 6 different sauces, the red snapper, the tuna medallion, the perch filet, the ability to create your own pizza, the roasted australian beef filet, etc etc. The Beach restaurant is the worse, but also the Kitchen to a lesser extent. The menus are now boring, penny-pinching on the ingredients and not up to a five stars hotel standard. The management should also have a look at the breakfast service at The Kitchen as there are lots of things that should be improved. To list a few: several time we had coffee served almost at the end of our breakfast and for this I blame the station that is in charge of making the coffee, cappuccino etc. Bacon is very crispy, so much that I was unable to cut it with my knife. I asked for a fried egg over easy and what I got was a solid rubbery egg that one could use as a frisbee. I asked for an egg Benedict, what I got was a solid poached egg on a slab of bread with a bit of tasteless hollandaise sauce. I was not asked if I wanted beacon or ham or any other additional ingredients that are associated with this dish. I asked for a small plain omelette and got a flat frittata. The very poor, in quality, selection of “charcuterie” also included mortadella which, for the guests that haven’t got a clue, is spam and the cheapest item in all the Italian charcuterie range and one that a five stars hotel should not be offered to its clientele. Last but not least the buffet has lots of chicken dishes every day: curried, cacciatora, stewed etc., but they are all legs, not one breast in sight. Is that a new race of chickens or is Lux penny pinching again? I have been in five stars establishments on Mauritius and around the world and I can say with certainty that Lux doesn’t came up to this standard. All in all it was a bit disappointing for the money that one has to pay. Would I recommend Lux Le Morne to friends? No Would I be returning? I am afraid it’s another no

Excellent hotel in a stunning location We had a wonderful stay at Lux Le Morne Mauritius. The hotel is excellent, spotlessly clean, and set on a truly beautiful beach with breathtaking views. One of the highlights of our trip was swimming with wild dolphins — absolutely well worth doing and an unforgettable experience. I would definitely recommend spending the extra for an ocean view room; waking up to that view really added something special to our stay. The restaurant was very good overall, although a few more themed evenings would be welcome, especially for guests staying for two weeks or longer. The staff were amazing, particularly in the restaurant. They shared great tips about the island, made us laugh, and even brought us bowls of fresh lychees at breakfast — such a lovely touch. A special thank you to Cindy and Viswanee for making our stay even more memorable. We would happily return and highly recommend this hotel.
