The hotel

With a stunning sunset location, flanked by UNESCO World Heritage Site Le Morne Peak, this LUX* resort also overlooks an endless stretch of golden beach. Sheltered from trade winds and on the quiet side of the island, it’s an ideal place to catch up on some R&R. Landscaped gardens surround you, dotted with five swimming pools — select your favourite and pull up a lounger. Romantic in feel, the hotel is also ideal for families, with a superb kids' club offering activities such as treasure hunts, art classes and tennis lessons. Water sports abound, try your hand at snorkelling, water-skiing or kite-surfing perhaps. If you prefer dry land, no worries — team up with friends for a game of volleyball or hire a bike to explore the lush interior. Come sundown, the pace picks up slightly. Special mentions to Hans, VJ, Audrey, Sangita and Isabel who stood out! We had a medical emergency during our stay & the team looked after our friend so well and after a two night hospital stay when he returned to the hotel he was treated like a King! ‏We arrived in Mauritius for a week to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday and for a proposal. We stayed at the Lux* Le Morne hotel, and it was the best decision we made!Let's start with the hotel, which looks like a postcard! There's green everywhere, the sea is clear, and the water is flat. the most beautiful sunsets, the pools are at perfect temperature, the rooms are spacious and well-designed, the food is delicious and varied, and the hotel is very clean, well-maintained, and organized. The hotel is great for couples and very romantic. We travel a lot around the world, staying at the best hotels, and this hotel left us speechless with its breathtaking beauty. ‏Moreover, one of the main advantages of the hotel is the people. They are wonderful! They are nice and kind, always ready to help, greet you every time they pass by, and respond to any request. But there are a few individuals we must mention: Manie and Bianca that assisted me months before our arrival in planning the proposal and did everything to make it perfect! With a smile and love, they took care of everything, and the proposal exceeded all my expectations! They organized everything amazingly, adhered to the set timelines, arranged a special meal for us by the sea with a private chef, and made us feel the most special. Even in the days following the proposal, they showed genuine interest in our well-being, and their warmth and kindness never ceased—they are unforgettable. ‏And of course, there's the wonderful photographer, Hemant, who captured unique photos, capturing the most beautiful and special moments with patience, a smile, and great professionalism! And to the dining room attendant Alanzo who was great, professional and helpful! He always served us with a smile, remembered what we were drinking and always asked how we were doing. ‏In summary, this hotel deserves a 10, and we recommend it to anyone looking for a holiday that feels like a postcard, filled with warm and lovely people. This is the place. Read less

I had originally decided to give this hotel very low rating but now I have changed my mind only because of the staff who are extremely polite and kind and the poor people try to satisfy the requests of all the customers . So only because of them I give a good rating but otherwise I will write What the problems I have seen so that I hope at least the management reads these comments And takes a positive note so that they can improve their work and fix these problems .The biggest problem are the stray cats that walk around right while you are eating and they walk around absolutely everywhere in all the restaurants by the pool on the beach and they are disgusting, nasty cats, it is very unhygienic to eat and have such disgusting stray cats walking around you that spread infections in the restaurants. There are children and in my opinion it is very dangerous. If this were in our country, these restaurants would be closed. I don't know how a hotel of such a high level, so expensive, is allowed to have such stray animals in its restaurants while the guests are eating. I think that the reason these cats are there is because the management does not want to take any measures because I read that another hotel had a similar problem, this is general problem in Mauritius btw,Hotel One and only, where there were also problems with cats 10 years ago and the management completely solved the issue by completely removing the cats .I'm not saying that cats should be killed or abused. I'm not against animals, but there are ways to get these animals out or take them to another city or another place or set up some kind of shelter where they can go and the guests don't have access to them at all. But here the cats were all the same, about a dozen of them, who roam around all the restaurants, so since the hotel tried to explain to me how they removed them and then new cats came, this is not true because the cats were absolutely the same. There were even little kittens. The rooms are small, on the picture they look bigger and we were in a Prestige Suite, which has two bathrooms, one external bathroom, one internal bathroom. The two bathrooms taken together are as big as the room. And it would have been more reasonable to make a larger room with, let's say, a smaller bathroom, because now there are like three bathrooms, one external, one like a shower cabin, which is intermediate, then there is an internal part of the bathroom, which has a bathtub, which is not usable at all. There are four restaurants in the hotel where you can use the a la carte menu, part of allinclusive which is good. In one restaurant on the beach there are pizzas and some other nice dishes.I liked the most this restorant. In the other restaurant there is a buffet and a la carte menu. The third restaurant is Japanese which you pay for and the fourth restaurant is Asian which you also pay for to use they are not part of all inclusive. In general, there is not much choice in these restaurants. The food is always the same. Only the breakfast food is wonderful. I like it very much. There are very tasty pancakes. There is a rich selection of muesli and all kinds of European breakfasts, there are fried slices, pancakes, bread rolls, different types of salami, eggs, omelets and fruits, absolutely everything you can think of. Another problem is the service on the beach. It is extremely slow. Sometimes they forget your order and it doesn't come at all. Other times it takes about two hours to deliver something to you. The third time it comes very quickly. So there is no exact pattern, but almost all the time the order came extremely slowly. First you wait for them to come when the bell rings, then you wait for them to bring you the order. Then you wait for them to bring you the bill, and if they even remember to bring you the order, because I came quite often they forget your order. But I think the problem is because they is only one person to serve to all guests.Sometimes the beach is full and this boy just can’t be everywhere. The managment should hire at least another 3 people . The sea infront of the hotel has a lot of stones when you enter it, it's not like in the Maldives to enter and it's not absolutely smooth, the sand right in this part in front of the hotel is quite rocky, let's say, on the side of the hotel there is another hotel, Dina Robin, which is very nice, the sea is very clean there , the sand is much nicer and the resort is much bigger and looks much better, but in front of Lux resort, the beach, it's not very nice at all, you have to enter in the ocean with sea shoes. Otherwise, the resort is in a wonderful place with beautiful nature with lots of palm trees. It is very quiet. It is very peaceful and if you are tired you can definitely relax there. The next good thing about the hotel is the staff, everyone is extremely polite and smiling and they are very friendly towards the guests, always willing to help. Just they the most strong part of the hotel. The next good thing is the gym which is very well equipped and big enough. The spa center is also very nice. The the masseurs are extremely good and they do a very good massages. But the prices are extremely high for the massages. The cheapest massage is around 170 euro.In my opinion, it is not normal for a massage to cost 200 -300 euros. I have been to the most expensive hotels in the world and such prices are really rare. But on the other hand, if women receive high salaries, it would be good because they really do massages very well. They do them extremely professionally and very relaxing. The sun loungers on the beach are extremely comfortable and the bed is also very soft and very comfortable, both the pillow and the bed itself are very nice to sleep on. It's a nice place for a vacation, but overall Mauritius not really charmed us, so we wouldn't go back, not just because of the hotel, but also because of the island itself. The Maldives, is much better. Read less

We visited this amazing place last year for our 40th wedding anniversary & loved it so much we did something we have never done before & booked to return. Having just got back from that 2nd visit for our 41st anniversary, it was an ever better experience. We were greeted like old friends on our arrival, made to feel really special & that feeling stayed throughout our visit. General Manager Ashok greeted us like family on arrival & also kindly invited us to have drinks & canapés with him one evening. I cheekily asked for the same room again, room 180, & were lucky enough to get it. The room was cleaned daily to a very high standard by among others Joana & Pamela & evening service by Sangeeta. Met Velma on our last day to ensure all was okay. The food & service was as amazing as ever, we ate mostly in the Kitchen restaurant although did visit the Beach & East restaurants, & it was lovely to see Hurvind, Vimal & Alain again. We were looked after so well by so many staff but a few staff to mention in particular - Akilesh, Chloe, Kavishna, Preetam, Cindy, Jai, Roshtash, Ridwan, Vedisha, Rahul & Brigitte, thank you to you all. There is also the team of chefs who produce the best food, headed by Vishal, who cooked us an amazing special meal one night, thank you. We had treats for our anniversary again so thank you to Manie & Bianca, also Hans for our sunset drinks & canapés on our actual anniversary & Hurvind for our bubbles in our room. We mostly were by the Ilot bar in the day so thanks to all, especially Manager Hans, Radish, Emmanuel, Shahil, Brandon, Rudish & Dylan for looking after us so well. Also thanks go to Ridesh who served our canapés & drinks on our balcony one evening & our anniversary meal on the beach. Other thanks to Sabrina & Abi in the main bar area & Seeshna on reception. Last, but definitely not least, it was a delight to see the lovely Hemraj again who services the mini bar daily. Such a nice, friendly, personable young man, it was so nice to see him again, thank you for everything. There are obviously lots of other staff not mentioned, I got as many names as I could but all staff, without exception, always have a smile on their face & are polite, welcoming & respectful at all times. It was a fabulous & very relaxing return visit, we now truly feel like the family we were treated as & we hope to see you all again soon. Read less
