Being at Le Preskil for the first time was fabulous. The location was convenient and they offer a high quality facilities by the friendly and amazing staffs leaving a great impression on their guests. The environment was very relaxing and the comfort level was at top level. We really had a great time and lots of fun as the sea view was impressive. The level of cleanliness was at its highest standard and not to forget the food - I was thrilled regarding the hotel gastronomical features. But I want to suggest you guys to put more varieties in your menus like more seafood. I would really recommend you to go and enjoy this prestigious hotel. Thanks Shazia Read less

We booked to stay at the Preskil for 3 weeks - 1 family room for 2 adults and 2 kids and 1 standard room for an 81 year old adult (our Nan). Whilst there were some positives, generally it was not great. Let’s start with the positives: Location and size - One of the main reasons as it’s near to our families who we visit often and also near the airport. The hotel also has a smaller footprint so we had less to walk to with our Nan to use the hotel facilities. Room allocation - We requested ground floor rooms near each other and the hotel did this for us and in order to accommodate, they even upgraded the standard room for our Nan to a premium room which was appreciated. Staff members who deserve recognition Buffet Restaurant - Chef Gopee, Zahed and Kendy. When they were on, the quality of the food was much better. Chef Gopee’s gnocchi with cress is a recipe I will happily recreate at home. Kendy’s omelettes at breakfast was our go to every time he was on shift. Vic always tried his best to give us an appropriate table at the restaurant. Tupsy and Sonoo at the gate security were always helpful with assisting us getting a spot to pick up / drop off our Nan when the car park was busy and we had to park in the overflow parking. Vinay with carrying and loading our significant number of luggage! Hotel facilities - there were always plenty of loungers to use around the beach so it was never a rush to ‘reserve’ one early. The beach was nice and not crowded as it’s not connected to the mainland. Hotel activities - there were plenty for the kids and adults on the list. We didn’t use any ourselves but the list did look interesting. The little negative that I would add is the kids club staff come every morning at breakfast asking if the kids would like to participate. It’s awkward as most people just want to have their breakfast. Sadly, this is about all the positive I can list and now on to the negatives: Price - Whilst the price for the premium room seemed reasonable, the family room was a complete rip off. At double the price, you would expect more space. This was not the case at all. The room was very cramped and claustrophobic, hardly any space to walk around the parent’s bed and not even a sofa / space to sit. The kids' beds were just about ok for 2 small kids. And the room only had one bathroom. Considering this room is sold for 2 adults and up to 3 teenagers, I cannot see how this would work! The price did not reflect this at all. For context we have stayed at other hotels with family rooms twice the size, including 2 bathrooms and sofa area for the same price! This was a total rip off. And the hotel staff confirmed that all the family rooms are like this which is very disappointing. Poor design and pricing! The air conditioning was also poor and is badly in need of a regas. Quality control / checks are probably non-existent. Room cleanliness - This was a lottery depending on who cleaned the room. On some rare occasions you'll get a floor clean and a mop, on others you won’t even get a brush. I never saw a vacuum cleaner in use, just brush and pan. Our socks were black from how dirty the floor was. The drains were also very smelly. Service - There are some ‘old guards’ staff who clearly have a passion to provide high levels of service, but sadly the rest, out of which most were trainees (too many trainees in our opinion) lacked this. In addition, you get 2 tier service, one for Mauritians and one for Tourists. One of the most obvious examples was when we arrived in the morning around 9am after a long flight, as soon as our paperwork was processed, we were point blank told that check in is not until 2 so we’ll have to wait (totally understandable and no problems there). We were also then told that our package only starts with dinner tonight so if we wanted some breakfast we’d have to pay extra. Again, understandable. But the tone was simply rude and we didn’t even ask for early check in or breakfast. The departure lounge which was offered to wait in for several hours was underground and hardly relaxing - no offer to even use the hotel facilities during the wait. We got out of the hotel and went out for breakfast instead. For guests staying 3 weeks in 2 rooms, you’d think a complimentary breakfast would be offered? Well, to our surprise, on the day we were leaving, we witnessed a tourist family in the same situation as us arriving and being offered complimentary breakfast! 2 tier service levels right there. We requested a particular table / type of table at the restaurant due to our Nan’s mobility requirements and despite the staff saying this is sorted, it was never guaranteed. This is definitely possible as other tourists had their table reserved everyday for every meal! Again, one service for locals and one service for tourists. Thanks to Vic for doing his best when he was on to assist us. Our room was also late to be ready as the previous guest decided to not leave! Not the hotel / staff fault I know but there was no apology given until I complained about it. As a gesture (from different staff) we were given a late checkout which we were grateful for as our return flight was in the evening. Generally you can see the lack of experience showing as you’d ask for something and on a couple of occasions you’ll get it and others the staff will just disappear. They were like headless chickens. This was mostly with the customer service team as well, of all the teams! Pest control - needs improving. One day there was a rat scurrying across the floor of the restaurant. A la carte restaurants - both a la carte restaurants are disappointing. Food is average and practically everything on the menu is a supplement in the Mosaic, even if you are on all inclusive. The 1810 is advertised as a premium seafood restaurant and not included in any package. However, we were offered a complimentary long stayer menu (which is very limited). Sadly not only did it not live up to expectations but it was also a waste of 2 hours. The marlin and palm heart salad for starters did not have any marlin at all. For a seafood restaurant, they overcooked my octopus to the point of it being very chewy. The food lacked taste in general and if I had to pay for this meal I would have asked for a refund. The buffet with the chefs mentioned above was much nicer! In summary, the hotel has good potential. It’s certainly not what we would call a 4 star establishment. Due to the size of the family room, it's not somewhere we would stay again for that price too. 3 family rooms in a block should be combined into 2 to allow for enough space for a family properly. If the price was much lower, then you could forgive the room size but the service definitely needs to improve and everybody should get the same level of service. This 2 tier service is shameful and not dignified of Mauritian hospitality at all. Read less
