If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway, this side of the island offers a slower pace with fewer attractions — perfect if you’re seeking relaxation. That was exactly what we wanted, and this hotel delivered. It’s a small, intimate property with around 100 rooms, which helps keep the atmosphere calm and uncrowded. We never had a problem finding a sun lounger or double bed, and the vibe was always tranquil. One of the highlights was the wonderful staff — incredibly attentive and always ensuring we were comfortable and kept hydrated with drinks of our choice. Cocktails to Try: • Swimming Pool – Sweet and refreshing • Aqua Punch – The Bitter choice Dining: For a small hotel catering to around 200 guests, the food options were surprisingly varied: • Breakfast: Any style of eggs made to order — a personal highlight. • Lunch/Dinner: Usually at least four main options with various sides. • Beach Restaurant: Offers à la carte and buffet-style meals, including chicken burgers, pad Thai, sandwiches, and pizzas (book for the evening as many times as you want). Tip: Items marked with three dots are included in the all-inclusive package; anything without will be added to your bill. On certain evenings, the hotel also hosts themed nights, such as BBQ nights or prawn nights, (ranging 3000 -6000pp we didn’t do we thought it was expensive, but you can judge yourselves) Activities: All non-motorised water activities are included — snorkelling, kayaking, and (pedal boats azuri -great for reaching a nearby small island — just be mindful of the shallow rocks). You can also visit the sister hotel, Azuri, for golf and additional facilities. The oversized outdoor chess board was a fun extra. Getting Around: We hired a taxi for a full-day tour of the south side for 5500 (around £91). Personally, we found the crater and shopping village a little underwhelming (perfume shop more expensive then home), Tip: Download ‘Get Your Guide’ app for more tailored options. Safari Tip: We only found out on our last day that using e-scooters at the safari park allows you to get close to the animals without frightening them — friends even showed us videos of themselves stroking zebras! If we’d known sooner, we definitely would have done this. Read less

We just spent two weeks at Radisson Lafayette and, despite a couple of IT-related teething problems, thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had a really relaxing break. The resort is small (just 100 rooms) and child-free. There are plenty of sunbeds by the pool or on the beach so no need to get up at 7am! If you're the restless type, there are daily organised activities – mainly free – which meant you never need to get bored: aquafit, volleyball, hiking up the beach, cycle rides, Creole lessons, cooking lessons, cocktail making sessions etc). Additionally, some water sports are available (weather permitting) – we saw a huge variety of fish snorkelling just a couple of meters from the beach (unfortunately no turtles this time). There’s also a small gym. (Also a regular free shuttle runs during the day to the sister hotel, Azuri, up the road, which has a much bigger gym, a second pool and more food options.) Food was good and the cocktails were lovely. There’s some entertainment (e.g. live music) most evenings, although this may be curtailed if the weather’s bad. What is most memorable about the hotel, however, is the staff who were all friendly and helpful right from the moment we walked in. In particular: Rahul helped us with some IT problems, Adish & Kavesh organised activities, Shivam looked after us in the dining room, Temmy & Shantanu were always a bundle of joy on the welcome desk. Dhavesh, Ram and Arassi also stood out. Read less
