The hotel

Nestled on the beautiful beach of Flic en Flac and surrounded by landscaped tropical gardens, this relaxed resort has a welcoming Mauritian atmosphere. The outlook across the lagoon and the bay of Tamarin, with Le Morne Mountain in the distance, is impressive. Being on the west coast of Mauritius, you'll also be spoilt by amazing sunsets. The beach here is bounded by two reefs, an inner one that gives the hotel's swimming beach privacy and an outer reef where there’s a selection of complimentary water sports on offer. Enjoy the translucent, calm lagoon and keep a watch from the terrace for the dolphins that come into the bay. When it comes to dining, there's the main Tamarind Terrace restaurant, the intimate Pink Peppercorn on the beach terrace, and Spices, with its refined indoor dining room or more casual outdoor terrace. It's clear to see why this resort has a high volume of repeat guests.

Where is it

On a beautiful white-sand beach on the west coast of Mauritius overlooking the Bay of Tamarin with the majestic Le Morne Mountain as a backdrop. Near the town of Flic en Flac, with its shops, bars and restaurants. Transfer time from Mauritius International Airport: approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Please note that if taking a seat in coach this may be longer depending on how many hotel stops are en route.

Hotel information

91 elegantly appointed suites on 3 floors. All suites with sea facing balcony or terrace, air-conditioning, satellite TV, WiFi, iron and board (on request), mini-bar*, safe, hairdryer, tea/coffee-making facilities, walk-in wardrobe, bathroom with separate bath and shower. Superior Suites are on the 1st and 2nd floors with remarkable lagoon views, and have 1 king-size bed or twin beds, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Half Board includes: Breakfast and dinner in the main restaurant, Tamarind Terrace. Guests can also dine around at the other two restaurants at Sands and a further three restaurants at sister hotel Maradiva Villas Resort & Spa with a credit towards the bill. Reservations may be required.

Deluxe Suites are the same as the Superior Rooms but located on the ground floor (some are interconnecting). They have a private terrace with direct access to the gardens and beach beyond, with 1 king-size bed or twin beds, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Beachfront Suites are set on the ground or first floor in a premium location with direct access to the beach and magnificent views of the bay of Tamarin. They have 1 king-size bed or twin beds, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Exclusive Suites are spacious and elegant, set on the first floor with one of the best views of the Indian Ocean. They have 2 balconies, a living/dining space and 2 bedrooms, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Tamarind Terrace restaurant (buffet breakfast and dinner; International and local delicacies), Spices Restaurant (Mediterranean cuisine with a local touch, open for à la carte dinner), PinkPepperCorn beach restaurant (romantic seafood dinners, reservation required). Dolphin bar.

Live evening entertainment including Mauritian music, Sega and cultural shows. Live music from local bands at the Dolphin Bar.

Everything is amazing! Perfection. Staff is really kind. They fix and do everything for you. The weather is sunny but not too hot. The food is great, there is a lot of diferent food. Rooms are really nice. You can do a lot od sport activities also, included in the price.

Best hotel i’ve been to! It has beautiful beaches and the food was amazing. It is very peaceful. Its also for adults oriented, so its nice for couples. We gor married at the hotel and it was the most beautiful marriage ceremony we could’ve ever wished for..The stuff helped us with everything…

I arrived early in the morning until my room was available I was able to use facilities to freshen up and change to go for a swim and get some lunch. We stayed half board, every meal was amazing hot breakfasts to order and very ample, on occasion we would have snacks for lunch. Dinner was amazing, flavoursome cuisine from around the world or booked in advance you can have meal in the restaurants available or indeed room service. All food to 5 star ratings and staff cannot do enough to make your stay brilliant. Our room had awesome views over the beach, clean, spacious and luxurious, close proximity to all that the hotel had to offer. There are many activities part of the stay offered including, glass bottom boat tour, snorkelling and I even booked us for water-skiing but it was a little choppy and the water was cold that day, so we chickened out. Hotel tours rep - friendly, knowledgeable and keen for us to have a best stay in Mauritius. This hotel was recommended by my brother and gets 5 stars for us and we would definitely stay again. My flight was delayed and cancelled and they allowed me to stay in the same room which was over and beyond and arranged for a breakfast package for me to take on my journey to the airport. Fabulous hotel thank you staff -you made my first visit incredible. Almost forgot I had bamboo massage the spa though small is private and tranquil space for relaxation. Read less

Our staying at the Sands Suite Hotel was a delight. The best end for a perfect honeymoon ! The suits were clean & tidy and the personel was doing everything to make us comfortable. As per the buffet and the two restaurants : the food was very good and diverse. And the view... paradise on earth for sure. Thank you!
