My partner and I stayed at Sands Suites for 1,5 week in the beginning of March 2026, and we are so thankful we chose to stay at this particular resort since we had an absolutely amazing stay. The whole staff is incredibly kind and helpful, and the atmosphere at the resort is very warm and calm. All of the staff made sure we felt welcomed from the moment we arrived to the departure, and always smiled and asked if we were having a good day when we passed them at the resort. They also helped my partner arrange a beautiful private moment at the beach for the two of us for a special occasion.
The suite was spacious and constantly very well cleaned since housekeeping came twice a day. The air conditioning in the room also worked great. The suite had a nice balcony and a very comfortable bed. The Wifi covered the whole resort area and worked great.
The beach is beautiful, and is cleaned every morning. There were plenty of sun beds, and we never had an issue finding free sun beds by the beach (although there were fewer customers at the resort when we were there than normally). We swam a lot in the ocean both inside and outside the breakwaters, both of which felt very safe. The resort offered a lot of different water and land activities. We took part of the snorkeling, which is arranged every afternoon for one hour; the snorkeling was a nice experience and we saw plenty of small fish. We also went swimming with the dolphins, which was a magical experience. Two skippers and the two of us went out with a motorboat in the morning, we got snorkeling gear, and then we repeatedly were dropped off close to the dolphins for around 1,5 hour. We got to swim in the middle of the dolphins numerous times, which was an absolutely beautiful and once in a lifetime experience; this became one of our favourite parts of the whole trip. We didn’t take part in the land activities since we made some day trips on our own (hiking up Le Morne, hiking Tamarin Falls, walking to Flic en Flac), but the staff at the reception made sure to help us as much as possible in arranging these trips, eg made early take away-breakfast for us at 4:30 am before the taxi (also booked by the hotel) picked us up to go to Le Morne. The fitness center was quite small but the equipment was good, the only minus about the fitness center was that the room smelled strongly of perfume constantly.
Foodwise the breakfast was our favourite part; we especially enjoyed the omelette station, fresh fruits and pancakes. For lunch we usually shared a pizza at the Dolphin Bar, the Diavola became our favourite. For dinner we ate most of the nights at the Tamarind Terrace buffet; the buffet had different themes every night (eg Italian, Asian, Mediterranean). There were plenty of different starter, main course and dessert options. Some of the food was a bit bland, but otherwise we were pleased with the food. Two of the nights we ate at the Pink Peppercorn and at the Spices restaurants, we went for the three course Dine Around-menus that were included in the half board package. The food was good, and a nice variety to the buffet. Drinkwise we mostly drank water, coca cola, beer and my favourite non-alcoholic cocktail Sweet Temptation (it was amazing!), so we can’t really comment on the wine or drink selection. The service at all the restaurants was great (both kind and fast), the only minus was one night when the staff seemed a bit stressed at the buffet which impacted on the general atmosphere. All the drinks at the restaurants and the lunch were not included in the half board package; we found the prices reasonable, and the final hotel bill was about what we expected.
Our flight departed in the evening and the check out from our suite was at 12:00 pm, so we had almost a whole day at the resort before the taxi came and picked us up in the afternoon. The resort had a “freshen up”-room that we were able to use before leaving, which was nice since it made us able to also spend the last day at the beach.
Overall we are very thankful for everyone at Sands Suites for making our stay so enjoyable, this stay was the best hotel stay either of us have ever experienced. We can and will warmly recommend Sands Suites to anyone going to Mauritius!
