The hotel

As the Mauritian drinks cart rolls up to serve you cooling cocktails, while you sink your feet into the white sands of Belle Mare beach after a dip in its turquoise lagoon, you’ll know you’ve arrived in paradise. In fact, it’s so jaw-droppingly gorgeous here, they’ve now reserved Sunrise Attitude exclusively for grownups. As much as you could spend every waking moment on the beach, there’s plenty more fun in store – whether you want to linger at the seaside with snorkelling and scuba diving on offer, or you prefer swimming in one of the two swimming pools instead. However, it’s the authentic touches that really make this Adults Only retreat unforgettable, from the island-inspired treatments at Spa Poz to once-in-a-lifetime cultural Otentik experiences like dining with islanders in their homes, and learning to make Mauritian curries with their local chef.

We got home from a fantastic and relaxing birthday getaway in Mauritius a few weeks ago now and we miss it everyday. Everything about Sunrise Attitude and Mauritius as a whole was amazing and so enjoyable. We decided to treat ourselves and book a swim-up room, which was beautiful. It did only catch the sun in the mornings, but that was fine for us as we spent most of our afternoons on the beach. The pool was quite cold to start with, but refreshing once you were in and had got used to it. The beds were comfortable, and the room was nicely decorated. The hotel staff were all lovely and very welcoming to us. We also loved the cats and dogs that were in the hotel. One cat in particular with her 2 little kittens, would run up to us every day and be so friendly with us which was so heartwarming as I love cats. The buffet had a variety of different options each night. We went to the A-la-carte at Kot Nou three times during our holiday. The staff there were very friendly and they always offered us different dishes to try every time we went. The chicken and potato curry was very nice and I wish I could have more of it. For lunch, we pretty much went everyday to Taba-J for the chicken tandoori wraps, they were so good! I even asked for the recipe so I can make them at home. We had a taxi booked and had ordered biryanis. The food was ready just as the taxi arrived, the staff kindly packed it up in takeaway boxes so we could take it with us. We done the complimentary glass-bottom boat tour and snorkelling trips. They were both really good and we saw the some great marine life and coral. The evenings were great fun. We enjoyed the entertainment that on offer which included African dance performances and live music. At the Social House, we spent a few evenings playing poker and blackjack. Ben, the entertainer, made it so enjoyable with his great energy and his sense of humour. One of the best experiences we had on our holiday was visiting Casela Nature Park. We walked with lions and did a cheetah interaction. We would definitely recommend this experience, it was incredible and one in a lifetime opportunity. They gave us our photos on a USB stick, but had no way of getting the photos to our phone. We went to the info desk and asked if they could help. Vishesh at the information desk was so helpful and friendly, he helped us upload the images so we could send them to our family and friends to show the amazing experience we had. He was incredibly kind and we had a great chat with him for a while afterwards. The night before we had to go home, we asked if it was possible to keep our room on for a bit longer before our transfer arrived as it wasn’t until the evening. Vishesh checked with the management and they didn’t just agree but they also offered the late checkout for free. It was a lovely gesture, and we are very grateful for that. Overall, we had a truly incredible holiday and birthdays. We definitely recommend this hotel and we’d love to come back. Read less

We stayed at the Sunrise Attitude in June 2025 for 11 nights. The hotel is not the most luxurious hotel, but it is perfectly reasonable. It is very clean, and is in a good location in Belle Mare, just over the road from the beach. Our room was a standard double, which was pretty basic and wasn’t the biggest, but served us fine for our stay. The food in the a la carte restaurants was very good, and there was always a decent choice in the buffet, although some of the dishes could be cold at times. The choice of drinks was very good, and was served in proper glasses, unless you were sitting round the pool, and then understandably, they were served in plastic beakers. Service at the bars could be a little slow at times, so maybe some extra bar staff would help. The staff at the hotel are superb, and go out of their way to make sure you are having an enjoyable holiday. Special mention goes to Vicky in the social house restaurant, who was always pleasant and welcoming at breakfast. Rati who cleaned our room daily to a high standard. Steven, Bensley, Christophe and Jo in the entertainment team who did a great job with the activities. Sebastien and Sarita in the main restaurant, who were also pleasant and helpful at all times. We would highly recommend the 5 island tour by speedboat, which can be arranged via the local hotel taxi service. Overall, we would recommend the Sunset Attitude as a good hotel with great staff. Image of the Tripadvisor rating Good hotel but no need to pay more for a "partial" view. I'm disappointed

The staff are very attentive and caring. The food is excellent and feels fresh. The big negative is the partial view... I paid extra for a better view, but saw nothing... You could call it an obstructed view, but not a partial one.

We had the best time with our recent stay at Sunrise. The staff were all amazing. especially Sebastian in the Social House. Sarita in Market Place, and Maya who looked after using the Villa. Reena for arranging our special dinners.
