The hotel

All-suite and all-inclusive, the Ravenala Attitude is styled in contemporary, colonial and tropical hues. With an open-plan, no boundaries design, the restaurants and bars flow seamlessly towards the pool, gardens and beach beyond. But it’s not all about appearances — it goes deeper. Its ‘Culinary Voyage’ takes you from Asia to Italy in nine restaurants, seven of which you can sample as part of your All-Inclusive package. You can tuck into 'Granmamas' Mauritian fare at Kot Nou, street-food takeaways on the beach at Taba-J, and enjoy the romance of the floating Riviera restaurant. The kids' clubs provide various fun activities, whilst the Sport Village and Boat House offer endless diversions, from kayaking along Rivière Citron to riverbank yoga. And the hotel's ‘Otentik’ concept gives you a true insight into Mauritius, in cookery classes, local music, a self-guided tours app, and a weekly ‘Otentik Bazar’, with all profits from the ‘made in Mauritius’ goodies going to the craftspeople. You can even dine on ‘Otentik Dinners’ with locals in their homes. This charming resort is great for families, with large rooms and a range of activities, whilst couples will love staying in the Executive Seafront Adult Suites in the adults-only section.

We recently visited Ravenala Attitude for a team building event, and unfortunately, the experience was far from what we expected. The food was quite average with very limited variety. When we arrived at the buffet, many of the trays were already empty, and despite requesting replenishment, the staff did not respond. Some colleagues even reported that when food was eventually brought out, it was undercooked, which was concerning. What stood out most was the poor attitude of the staff. There were no smiles, no sense of welcome, it felt like they didn’t want to be there. The person at the pizza stand was especially grumpy and unhelpful. The food stations were messy and unattended, and there was little to no effort to keep the area clean or organized. The drinks were also disappointing, and the overall service lacked professionalism. It was a frustrating and unpleasant experience for the whole team. Given the reputation of this hotel, we expected much better. Sadly, we left feeling very let down. Read less

I recently visited this hotel for a team-building day package, and to say the experience was disappointing would be an understatement. The entire setup lacked care, organisation, and basic hospitality, a far cry from what you’d expect from a hotel of this level. We arrived at the restaurant for lunch to find the buffet nearly empty. No staff made any effort to replenish the dishes, and when we asked the chefs why the food had run out, they simply ignored us. Their attitude was cold and unwelcoming, as if Mauritian guests were a burden rather than a priority. The live cooking stations were no better the chefs showed zero interest in engaging with guests. The food that was available was limited, mostly vegetarian, and bore no resemblance to what was listed on the menu. The pizza was served undercooked, in tiny portions, and required long waits just to get a slice. As for the cocktails, they were nothing more than random fruit juices thrown together, poorly made and completely lacking in taste or creativity. Tea time? An absolute joke. The only options were oily tempura and dry biscuits. I actually felt sick after eating the tempura due to how greasy it was. The service overall was disorganised and unprofessional. Staff were inattentive, loud, and clearly untrained, repeatedly forgetting orders and showing little regard for guest comfort. There was no coordination, no warmth, and no effort to create a pleasant atmosphere. The only positive highlights were a pistachio tartlet though only two were left and the iced coffee. This wasn’t just a bad day, it was a complete failure in basic hospitality. For a hotel to host paying guests with this level of negligence is unacceptable. Read less
