The hotel

All-suite and all-inclusive, the Ravenala Attitude is styled in contemporary, colonial and tropical hues. With an open-plan, no boundaries design, the restaurants and bars flow seamlessly towards the pool, gardens and beach beyond. But it’s not all about appearances — it goes deeper. Its ‘Culinary Voyage’ takes you from Asia to Italy in nine restaurants, seven of which you can sample as part of your All-Inclusive package. You can tuck into 'Granmamas' Mauritian fare at Kot Nou, street-food takeaways on the beach at Taba-J, and enjoy the romance of the floating Riviera restaurant. The kids' clubs provide various fun activities, whilst the Sport Village and Boat House offer endless diversions, from kayaking along Rivière Citron to riverbank yoga. And the hotel's ‘Otentik’ concept gives you a true insight into Mauritius, in cookery classes, local music, a self-guided tours app, and a weekly ‘Otentik Bazar’, with all profits from the ‘made in Mauritius’ goodies going to the craftspeople. You can even dine on ‘Otentik Dinners’ with locals in their homes. This charming resort is great for families, with large rooms and a range of activities, whilst couples will love staying in the Executive Seafront Adult Suites in the adults-only section.

We stayed 25th July - 6th August 2025 The hotel rooms are beautiful! So spacious and lots of clothes storage. Very clean too. *NEGATIVES - not many!!* We weren’t given any information on the hotel (restaurants, pools, check out time), so had to go back to reception which we were then guided to their website - we had already looked at this prior. Unfortunately the three of us suffered with bad bellies (we all ate different foods). We couldn’t figure out what was causing the issues with 2 of our family members, we put mine down to dairy). I am lactose intolerant, but followed the food descriptions to avoid dairy. I ordered the tortillas at the Bistrot (not labelled with milk allergen) but it came with shredded parmigiana on top - when I had the vegan tomato pasta (not labelled with milk allergen) in the O restaurant it had cows milk cheese baked into the tomato sauce. This of course caused issues with my health. Perhaps an update on allergy training/policies could be looked at. *POSITIVES* The kids club is fantastic, cannot fault it!! My daughter had the best time and was asking to go most days. The ladies are super friendly and welcoming. They had different activities each day. My daughter’s favourite was the cookie making and henna tattoos. The pools are great, there is a ‘kids pool’ which my daughter enjoyed splashing about it and is great for smaller children. We spent most days by the main pool, it had shallow parts on each end and a deeper part in the centre. It was clean and clear, and no over powering smell of chlorine either. The waiters around the pool are so kind and remember your orders well too! One in particular was very friendly and helpful. There was never an issue with finding a sun bed by the pool or the beach. The beach is beautiful with great views of the nearby hotels. There is a great little shell island just by the river which we spent a long time searching for shells. The sea water was warm and not too deep, even when going over to the end of the roped area. We went in the glass bottom boat and saw some beautiful fish. If you want to go snorkelling you have to go further out on the boat, to the reef. There was a hut by the beach which gave us beach towels, these were available daily. We took a trip to Port Louis (2,800 rupees there and back). We also went to Casela safari park, highly recommend a visit, so many different animals and activities. We enjoyed the toboggan rollercoaster! Weather was overall good - with 3 days of heavy rain. There was a day or two when we had some light showers but it wasn’t cold, and no different from getting wet in the pool! Most days the temperature was 24-25 degrees. Overall I would stay here again if the allergies were improved. Everything else was great. A beautiful hotel with welcoming staff. 3 pools to choose from, as well as the beach. And a faultless kids club. Read less

We visited the Ravenala Attitude on the back of a recommendation from the travel agent. We were a little worried due to travelling in the winter season and advised that the location of the Ravenalla would be good. Walking into the reception area on arrival made us feel relaxed immediately due to the calm and tropical feel about the hotel. Our room was in a block and was a bit basic but still felt part of the calm tropical theme feel. The staff noticed that my son had a disability and made sure that our room was as accessible as possible and they continued to ensure we were comfortable throughout the stay. Ismail was so caring and every morning he would ensure that our stay was good and if we needed anything else. He was so genuine, kind and offered a great service. There is a main buffet area and around eight further restaurants. You have to book the use of the restaurants on arrival to ensure you get a table which we did. Our favourite restaurants were the Bistrot, Madame Mings and A Tavola, which all offered a good standard of food and great service. There were three pools all close to each other and wrapped around the bar which gave that calm feeling. There were plenty of sun loungers that ensured everybody got a place at the pool or on the beach. We got our usual space at the pool each day and we were blown away by the unbelievable service the pool lads gave. After the first day the lads continued to bring drinks without us needing to ask and continued to make sure that we were comfortable. We have travelled to numerous destinations in the world and these lads offered the best service we have had and are a real credit to the hotel. Thank you to Yes and Mo for helping to make our holiday. We had a boat trip off the beach to swim in the wild with Dolphins and to travel a bit further out to see two Humpback Whales. This was followed by snorkelling over the coral and swimming with turtles. I have seen whales in other parts of the world and it is always a great experience. However, swimming with dolphins in their natural environment was a real life experience and was made even more special by sharing this with my son. We also hired a car and travelled the island and this was really easy and we saw some real views from driving up a couple of mountains to overlook the island. What a beautiful country and an amazing holiday experience made by the wonderful staff at the Ravenala. I also loved their ethical views and work on maintaining the environment. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Shocking customer service. Not consistent across the hotel. Rooms are shocking. Lack of care is apparent.

We are currently staying at this hotel, and I deeply regret every penny spent. This establishment has failed to meet even the most basic expectations of a four-star hotel and is, quite frankly, not worth the money. The condition of the rooms is unacceptable—worn-out furnishings, a blocked sink, doors hanging off their hinges, and a non-functional kettle. The bed frames are misaligned, leaving the bases protruding dangerously. Despite raising these concerns with reception, no action was taken to rectify the issues. We spoke with another guest who mentioned paying £13,000 for her stay and expressed a similar level of disappointment, particularly with the customer service, which she described as abysmal. It is painfully evident that many staff members lack both motivation and proper training. This hotel may be marketed as a four-star, but it barely meets the standards of a high three-star property. Hospitality basics are overlooked—a single bottle of water provided for five guests with instructions to refill it downstairs, and no in-room supplies like tea bags, sugar, or milk. Guests are expected to obtain these from the shop within the hotel, a practice that is both inconvenient and unprofessional. Customer service is, regrettably, one of the most disappointing aspects. There is a clear disparity in how guests are treated, seemingly influenced by race and language. On one occasion, we arrived for breakfast and were completely ignored, while another family who arrived after us received immediate and attentive service. To be entirely candid, we only booked this hotel due to lack of availability elsewhere, and we will certainly never return. I strongly urge others to consider alternative accommodations—The Intercontinental or Victoria Beachcomber, for example, offer far superior service and value. The one redeeming quality of our experience was Pawan in the restaurant. His professionalism and attentiveness stood out remarkably. He alone demonstrated what genuine customer service looks like, suggesting that the issue lies not with the individuals, but with poor leadership and inconsistent management. While food and entertainment are subjective and vary by preference, the fundamentals of service, cleanliness, and hospitality are not. In these, this hotel has fallen far short. I cannot in good conscience recommend it. Read less
