My family and I have recently returned from an incredible stay at Zilwa Attitude, where we celebrated my Dad's 70th birthday. It was our first visit to Mauritius and, thanks to this wonderful hotel, I very much doubt it will be our last.
From the moment we arrived, what really made the difference was the exceptional staff. Every member of the team seemed genuinely happy to be there and took real pride in making guests feel welcome. They are a huge asset to the hotel. In particular, Nitish went above and beyond throughout our stay. He was always on hand to check we had everything we needed and made us feel incredibly well looked after. As my husband and I were leaving a few days before my parents, it meant so much when he promised to keep an eye on them and ensure they continued to have a wonderful holiday. It was this kind of genuine warmth and care that made our stay feel so special.
Our rooms were spotless, comfortable and very well maintained. Housekeeping did a fantastic job every day and even decorated the room for my Dad's birthday, a thoughtful touch that was greatly appreciated.
The food was simply sensational - easily the best we have ever experienced at an all-inclusive resort. The lunch buffet at the beach was a particular highlight, with freshly grilled fish and meat, delicious salads and plenty of fresh produce. The afternoon burger and pizza offering at the main restaurant was also excellent. Dinner was something we looked forward to every evening. The main buffet offered a huge variety of high-quality dishes and was organised in a way that seemed to greatly reduce food waste, something we've often been disappointed to see at other all-inclusive resorts. The à la carte restaurants were all excellent, but special mentions go to Manao (Thai), Lor Disab (Beach Restaurant) and especially Tadka (Indian).
We chose Tadka as the venue for my Dad's 70th birthday dinner and the team made the evening truly unforgettable. They decorated our table with fresh flowers, brought out additional dishes for us to sample and surprised us with a beautiful birthday cake complete with candles. It was a wonderful celebration and one we will all remember for years to come.
The drinks offering was equally impressive, with a fantastic range of cocktails, mocktails, wines and other beverages. We especially loved the local Takamaka lychee wine, which became a firm holiday favourite.
The facilities throughout the resort were excellent. We particularly loved the adults-only pool by the upper bar, which quickly became our favourite spot for watching the sunset with a drink while enjoying the spectacular views. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with stunning tropical planting and immaculate gardens.
One of the highlights of the trip for my parents was the Til Zil massage experience on the little island. They had a private spot with two massage beds and two masseuses, surrounded only by the sounds of the wind and the sea. They described it as one of the most relaxing experiences they have ever had and a wonderfully unique part of their holiday.
The beach itself is absolutely stunning, with beautiful views across the lagoon towards Coin de Mire. The sea is calm, warm and shallow, making it perfect for bathing and relaxing. We also thoroughly enjoyed the BBQ lunch on Grand Zil, taking the little raft across and spending time relaxing in the hammocks suspended over the water.
Another huge plus was the inclusion of kayaks and other watersports within the all-inclusive package. The hotel's location is perfect for getting out on the water and exploring the lagoon. Despite the wide range of activities available, the atmosphere remained refreshingly relaxed. The entertainment team struck exactly the right balance - enthusiastic and encouraging without ever being intrusive. We enjoyed watching and occasionally joining activities such as aquagym and beach volleyball, which added to the fun atmosphere around the resort.
We also loved the hotel's friendly approach towards the resident dogs and cats. It was lovely being able to stop for a cuddle or a stroll with them, and we were touched by the signs explaining that the hotel could help guests with the adoption process should they fall in love with one of the animals. We certainly did - although sadly bringing one home wasn't possible!
The location was ideal for exploring the north of Mauritius, with easy access to places such as Grand Baie, Cap Malheureux, Port Louis and the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden. In all honesty, though, we didn't venture much further because we wanted to spend as much time as possible enjoying the resort itself.
Finally, we really appreciated the hotel's commitment to sustainability. The boutique-style store where guests can replenish their minibar with drinks and snacks was a brilliant idea, as were the water refill stations located throughout the resort. The commitment to eliminating single-use plastics deserves particular praise.
Overall, this was an amazing and unforgettable holiday. Zilwa Attitude exceeded our expectations in every way and provided the perfect setting to celebrate such a special family milestone.
Our only disappointment was that we didn't stay longer. We absolutely loved it and can't wait to return.
