Desert Rock was truly magical. The entire property is an architectural masterpiece seamlessly built into the rocky mountains of Saudi Arabia. Every perspective of the hotel is breathtaking — whether you’re at the base of the wadi, relaxing in a cave villa, or hiking up to the observatory at the peak for panoramic sunset views.
What makes this place special is that it’s not just a luxury resort; it’s a full experience. There are countless activities including rock climbing, abseiling, via ferrata, ATV tours, guided nature walks, hikes, and stargazing under some of the clearest skies imaginable.
The food was impeccable. Nyra, the hotel’s wood-fired restaurant led by a Michelin-starred chef, was outstanding. I also loved the non-alcoholic cocktail bar, where every mocktail is inspired by ingredients from different regions across Saudi Arabia — a very thoughtful and unique touch.
The service was exceptional and incredibly personalized. The staff always seemed one step ahead, already aware of your plans and ready to assist you wherever you went. Despite the size of the property, transportation is effortless thanks to the constantly available buggy service.
I stayed in a Cave villa, and it was unlike anything I’ve experienced before. Extremely spacious, beautifully designed, with a private pool and stunning mountain views. In fact, all accommodations are villas with private pools — these are far from standard hotel rooms.
One detail I especially appreciated was the breakfast concept. It’s entirely à la carte, whether you dine at the restaurant or order to your villa, and everything is included. It encourages you to slow down, sit on your balcony, take in the scenery, and enjoy breakfast peacefully in your own space.
The sunsets here were some of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. From sunrise to golden hour to the star-filled night sky, the landscape constantly changes color in the most surreal way.
No amount of photos or videos can truly capture the feeling of this place. Desert Rock is something you need to experience for yourself. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime destination and one of the most impressive properties I have ever visited. Highly recommended.
