Recently, we celebrated my daughter’s birthday, and because it was such a special milestone for our family, we chose to stay at one of Abu Dhabi’s most iconic resorts, Emirates Palace. The occasion itself meant so much to us, and the beauty and reputation of the property filled us with very high hopes for a truly memorable stay.
Sadly, from the very beginning — starting with valet parking, followed by the check-in experience, and then arriving at the room — we were left feeling deeply disappointed. It was heartbreaking to feel let down so early into what was supposed to be a joyful and meaningful celebration. The excitement we had built up for this staycation quickly disappeared, and we honestly felt as though the magic of the moment had been taken away from us.
In most situations, when something goes wrong, all one can expect is an apology and a promise that it won’t happen again. But what happened next was something truly unexpected, and it completely changed how we felt about our stay.
We had the privilege of connecting with Olga, and from the very first moment, she listened to us with such sincerity and care. She did not make excuses or become defensive. Instead, she truly heard us. She then took immediate action, arranging thoughtful little gestures throughout the rest of our stay that slowly began to restore our trust and happiness. She kept in touch consistently, not just as an employee doing her job, but with the heart of someone who genuinely cares about the guests and the reputation of the resort.
Because of her kindness, warmth, and incredible attention to detail, she turned what began as a very upsetting experience into something beautiful. By the end of our stay, we felt genuinely cared for, deeply valued, and far happier than we ever expected to be.
People like Olga are truly priceless.
I also want to say that the breakfast at Vendôme was the best we have ever had anywhere — from the stunning buffet presentation to the wonderful variety and the exceptional quality of the ingredients.
The team at Vendôme and Broadway were absolutely wonderful as well, Kudos.
