My husband and I stayed at the Intercontinental in 2018 and I’m so glad we returned this year for another 2 weeks stay. I’m also glad to report that some things don’t change and this is still a wonderful hotel that really cares about its guests and provides some of the best customer service a hotel can offer. We had lounge access as well as the Premium All Inclusive package. I think these options are all fantastic value for money. Every restaurant we ate at was wonderful. The cocktails on offer at Jones social are fabulous as was the food. I’m not sure why it is so quiet but I wish them all the best and hope to dine there again the next time we’re in Abu Dhabi. Byblos was a real treat, excellent set menu included in our package. Cho Goa and Porto Gina were also great, really tasty food in both and very attentive staff. The buffet choices at Selections are really varied and of high quality. As we stayed for 2 weeks I enjoyed the variety of the a la carte restaurants as well. We enjoyed some cold beers and cocktails on the beach and at the pool every day and a few lunches on the beach which were really nice. Cocktail hour in the club lounge is very nice with delicious canapés and I did enjoy a few quieter breakfasts in the lounge as well. All the staff work so hard to make your stay as lovely as possible. I can’t remember all the names but wanted to mention: Shekhar & Rasel in housekeeping for making our room a pleasure to return to at the end of each day and for keeping all the amenities well stocked. Prity & Aye Thida - what a lovely welcome to the breakfast room each morning. Tushar for knowing our breakfast drinks every morning and for great service in Selections. Sabina & the all the team at Cho Goa you are all fantastic at what you do! Vince in the club lounge - wonderful service every time at breakfast and cocktail hour thank you. Milan & Kaseem at the pool bar, thank you for keeping everyone hydrated and happy in the heat! All the guys at the Bayshore beach club, you work so hard in the heat so we can all be lazy and enjoy our holiday - thank you! We hope to return to the Intercontinental one day and would definitely take the Premium all inclusive option again. Read less

We are currently staying at this hotel and unfortunately had an unpleasant experience at check-in. We booked three rooms for six people, with our husbands scheduled to arrive later in the evening due to work. However, the staff refused to release the third room, claiming they needed our husbands’ IDs in order to check it in—something we were not informed about beforehand. This was the first time I’ve ever encountered such a policy. We only discovered the issue after realizing we were missing a room key when we got upstairs. We spoke with a staff member named Karindra, who was unwilling to assist, despite the fact that we had already paid in full for all three rooms. We eventually had to escalate the situation to the manager, who explained that the hotel had previously been fined due to guests checking in without providing ID. While we understand the need for proper documentation, this policy should have been clearly communicated at the time of booking or check-in—not after we had already gone to our rooms. Frankly, we felt unfairly profiled during this interaction. It’s hard not to wonder if the same treatment would have been given to Western guests. This hotel has always been our favorite, and we’ve checked in many times. However, this recent experience has left a very negative impression, and we will not be returning. Read less
