We have stayed at the Amwaj Rotana many times over the last ten years and have not been disappointed. Ongoing improvements continue which keep the hotel up to date and add to the overall customer experience (please note- non of this work is disruptive to your stay). Light airy room with balcony and great view to the beach, Bluewater's and across to the Palm. As a return visitor we are made very welcome and this visit encompassed a birthday and golden wedding celebration. The effort the staff put into making our stay totally memorable was unbelievable - everything from breakfast in the Horizon restaurant, to the pool and Sundeck bar through to the evenings in JB's was outstanding. So many choices of menu's in the various restaurants and bar and the attention to detail from housekeeping was superb. Great atmosphere throughout the hotel and it is ideally placed for The Walk, beach and many of the local attractions in the Marina. We will return again to the Rotana - highly recommended :)

First the good bits….the hotel is spotless and the staff are visibly cleaning constantly. Glasses or dishes never get left. The pool area is well kept by the very attentive staff. Mike in particular was super. The buffet staff are exceptional and all very friendly. Food is very good and varied.
Beach is a literal stones throw away and you are right in the middle of the busy Jeremiah beach walk.
Rooms are spacious and again cleaned every day, tea and coffee supplies are replenished each day.
However, we booked “all inclusive” something we have done many times at other hotels, including several in Dubai. My husband arrived first and our room was not ready, he was directed to the pool bar area where they would only serve him canned beer, which was not chilled because of the time of day. At first he thought this was because he was pool side until he seen someone with draught beer, when he asked for this he was told “it was not on his package”…very embarrassing especially as other guests were beside him. When I arrived I asked for a non alcoholic cocktail, to be told that was not on our package and handed a very small drinks list.This was to set the tone for the all inclusive. The only spirits you can get are whiskey vodka gin & Bacardi. The hotel advertises three other restaurants besides the buffet option, these restaurants are all in The hotel but when you go to use them there is only a small selection “allowed “ for all inclusive. Anything outside of that is extra (not a supplement, full price). When using one of these restaurants on the second night we were approached at 1030 for “last orders” yes you can have more but your “all inclusive” stops at 1030. We decided to speak to reception about this on our second morning, They suggested getting a manager. He was busy and said that he would meet us at our lunch venue later that day. He did not turn up despite us waiting for 90 Minutes. He never made contact over the remainder of our holiday.
On checkout, George, the guest services manager was very apologetic and offered a late check out and allowed me to have lunch as my flight was much later in the day. Whilst I was very appreciative of his offer it in no way made up for the frustration at being made to almost feel like the “poor relation” at the hotel.
If this is how this hotel wish to run their “all inclusive” That is their Prerogative, however they should make that very clear on their website. They do not. If they did it would allow you to make an informed choice.
