When we arrived we were a little surprised to be told the whole of the 5th floor inc the Pearl Club was closed for refurbishment. No fault of the hotel I might add, our tour operator didn't highlight this to us when we booked. We had no need to worry though, the hotel of course managed the disruption professionally and with no hinderance to us at all. It just meant the Pearl Club benefits were enjoyed in Social restaurant and Serafina bar. The quality didn't suffer at all and the staff handled everything brilliantly. This hotel certainly knows how to handle customer service, the staff training programme is second to none. We must mention a few staff members who made our stay memorable once again, Naseem, Saleem, Jenny, Damin, Eshan, Mercy, Evelyn, the list is endless! Also the lovely young man in Pearl Club who makes the perfect flat white, so sorry I couldn't remember your name. Must also mention the wonderful chefs who consistently deliver the most delicious food, it was faultless. Would love to return to experience the refurb, no doubt it will be first class. Read less

There is a lot of competition for 5 star hotels in Dubai and unfortunately the Waldorf is severely lagging behind. The hotel is starting to look tired and dated and certainly lacks the wow factor when you walk into the rather drab reception. It’s also the first hotel I’ve visited in Dubai which doesn’t have its own beautiful, signature scent….in fact, the corridors upstairs have an overwhelmingly strong, musty unpleasant smell which is quite unbearable. The only thing we could put it down to is possibly soft furnishings/carpets being left damp after cleaning? Our suite was a great size with a huge bathroom and a good range of amenities, however furnishings and carpets were looking stained, chipped and definitely in need of an upgrade. It wasn’t just the physical appearance of the hotel that was disappointing - it was the surprising lack of the usual 5 star touches, which you come to expect as standard here in Dubai; No offer of a welcome drink or refreshing cold towel when we checked in on a hot summer day. No one to show us to our suite after checking in. No welcome snacks, fruit bowl or evening canapés delivered to our suite. No sparkling water in the room. Lots of notices in the room reminding you not to take the shampoo/body lotion/dressing gowns home with you, which feels a bit tacky for a 5 star resort. No a la carte menu options at breakfast, just a buffet. The pools were very nice but on the small side, so it can be hard to get a sun bed and unfortunately a large construction site overlooks the main pool at the moment, where they are building new apartments next door. It was nice to have a quiet relaxed adults only pool and the service was always attentive, however the plastic glasses they use left a really unpleasant chemical taste in the drinks - like the plastic had absorbed the flavour of the cleaning detergent. Strangely there isn’t really anywhere to sit in the hotel and enjoy a drink/cocktail, apart from the main pool bar and a small outdoor bar next door to the adults pool, which was empty and which again used the awful tasting plastic glasses which ruined the taste of the drinks. They have a small afternoon tea place near reception, but we couldn’t get a drink there as all the chairs were taken up by people using them to lounge around and play on their phones, leaving no room for paying customers. Disappointing stay overall, certainly nowhere near the standard of other 5 star hotels in Dubai, but on a positive note; good sized suite with a great bathroom and shower. Pleasant, friendly staff throughout the hotel. Attentive service by the pools with comfortable sun-beds and a lovely adults only pool. Great Italian restaurant (Social) in the hotel which I would highly recommend. Read less

Just got back from a fantastic trip to Dubai with my toddler and the whole family. We had a great time. From the moment we arrived, it felt super luxurious, and the service was just excellent. Everyone was so attentive and really made us feel special. We absolutely loved having a big terrace; it was perfect for relaxing after a day out. Being vegan, we were really impressed with the variety of savoury food options available – there was always something delicious for us to enjoy, which isn't always easy when travelling with a big group. My only small negative was the vegan dessert situation. The world is evolving, and it'd be amazing to see more dairy-free sweet treats. Even some sorbet had dairy! We ended up having the same cupcake every single night, which, while tasty, got repetitive. The standout for us was the pool area. The kids' pool being covered was an absolute lifesaver, especially with a little one, and it meant we could enjoy the water without constantly worrying about the sun. The kids' club was also brilliant – really spacious and the staff there were fantastic. Overall, despite the cupcake repetition, it was a wonderful and luxurious stay, especially for families. Highly recommend it. Read less
