The hotel has a good location on the south end of the village of Oak Creek. It is about 15 minutes south of the busier Sedona area. Many of the best restaurants in the area are about 15 minutes north, although there are many places to eat in Oak Creek. The front yard of the hotel faces North and East, with views of Bell Rock, thus the name. The entrance is clean, modern, and updated, as is everything on the first floor (restaurant, reception, market, lounge area).
The Rooms are clean and housekeeping came in daily to freshen things up. Our bedroom was a bit on the warm side, while the living area/dining area was nicely chilled by the AC. We requested a few fans to circulate the air, and they delivered them right away and this fixed the warm bedroom issue. We like fans, so this was no inconvenience. The hallways leading to the room are very dated. The carpet is worn/tired, and the ice machine area (which we didn't use) needs to be refreshed a little. The exit signs on the doors and in the hallways are many decades old.
We stayed here as part of a conference, so the rate seemed competitive. It was mid week, off season.
The hotel is quiet. Given the time of year, there were no kids at the hotel. The pool was visible from our room, but we did not have time to use it. There is a hot tub. The resort charge includes access to the athletic club, which was fine. Many of the fitness classes were cancelled. The spa was under renovation, and the larger lap pool at the club was out of service. We would have enjoyed both, but arranged spa services off site in Sedona.
On several occasions, housekeeping would leave dirty linens and towels in the hallway against the wall, for hours, which was a bit unsightly. One evening, there was still a bunch of used linens in the hallway at 10pm. I used the chat function in the app and asked someone to pick this up, which they did. There was also a glass that sat in the hallway for 12 hours, which they grabbed at the same time. There are opportunities to make the hallways to the rooms look more inviting.
In summary, the staff at this hotel was great. The exterior and first floor are inviting. The upstairs hallways are tired and in need of updating. The rooms are clean but getting old. You should check to see if the athletic club, lap pool, and spa are in working order before making a reservation.
