As synonymous with Boston as the eponymous tea party and cream pie, Hilton Boston Park Plaza has been a landmark on the city’s hotel circuit since it opened 90 years ago. Reinterpreted for the 21st century traveller with a $100 million mega-makeover, it now adds contemporary décor and mod-cons to its timeless elegance. And you’re in good company, with all bar two US Presidents staying here since it opened. It’s easy to see why, with a top-drawer location near Boston Common. Of course, they wouldn’t all have experienced today’s attractions, which include a mammoth 20,000 SF Health Club, the nightly cocktail hour (well 5 hours) in the Library, and the New England inspired dining of its Off the Common restaurant, with Boston’s signature lobster rolls a menu favourite.

Last minute booking

We booked a room at the last minute through another site. The room ended up being only one bed, but Devon at the front desk was a huge help and was able to get us a room with 2 beds. Room is in good condition but a/c has a slight whining sound that is distracting.

While the Hilton app offers the convenience of early check-in, we found it to be less effective in practice. Despite checking in 24 hours in advance, we were informed at the front desk that early check-in would incur an additional $75 fee. We opted to leave our luggage with the bellhop instead.

Our reservation included two rooms for four guests, yet we were only provided with one key per room due to a shortage. On a positive note, the rooms were clean, comfortable and well maintained.
Breakfast service was notably slow, though the food itself was enjoyable. We ordered the yogurt parfait, fresh fruit, and the croissant sandwich all of which were fresh and tasty.

Excellent stay. Nice room and great customer service from Zeila at the front desk. Blazing fast wifi. Highly recommended!
Poor, but in a great central location.

Best bit: Very Central
Worst bit: You'd expect the best when you stay at a Hilton. This place wasn't cheap. At over £300 (inc. taxes) per night you'd think you're at least going to feel some luxury. There was none. It is very dated. Everything felt old, like from the 80s. Bedrooms were a good size but the veneer on the furniture was chipped.…

Worst bit: You'd expect the best when you stay at a Hilton. This place wasn't cheap. At over £300 (inc. taxes) per night you'd think you're at least going to feel some luxury. There was none. It is very dated. Everything felt old, like from the 80s. Bedrooms were a good size but the veneer on the furniture was chipped. Lampshades stained. Walls patchy from touch ups. The AC was ancient and the ducting industrial and ugly. Bathroom was not great. Doors showed layers upon layers of painting. Bath sealant yellow and thickly spread around. Shower had no thermostat so the water was difficult to regulate. No glassware. No cutlery. Everything plastic. It was one ugly room. The carpet was ancient. The hallway had different carpet where some of the older stuff was replaced. This place is in serious need of a refurbishment. You will find better in Boston for this kind of money. This place was a real tourist dump. Best avoided. We stayed in room 6015.
