Reinterpreted for the 21st century traveller with a $100 million mega-makeover, it now adds contemporary décor and mod-cons to its timeless elegance. And you’re in good company, with all bar two US Presidents staying here since it opened. It’s easy to see why, with a top-drawer location near Boston Common. Of course, they wouldn’t all have experienced today’s attractions, which include a mammoth 20,000 SF Health Club, the nightly cocktail hour (well 5 hours) in the Library, and the New England inspired dining of its Off the Common restaurant, with Boston’s signature lobster rolls a menu favourite.

“Friendly helpful staff. Great location just insteps from Boston Commonaa”

Such a great location near the start of Boston’s Freedom Trail. Check in was a breeze. The Bellman’s desk provided us with helpful information several times over the course of 3 days. The breakfast buffet is quite impressive and their in-house restaurant, Off The Common, has something for everyone with well curated menu selections & delicious craft cocktail offerings from the bar. Our rooms were clean, comfortable, & more spacious than we expected. We were 2 couples with 2 rooms and nothing to complain about.

I had a few issues with my room during my stay, and the Suhaila who helped me was exceptional. She responded quickly, calm and professional, and clearly explained the options available. Most importantly, she followed through and made sure everything was resolved to a comfortable standard. Her kindness and attention to detail turned a frustrating situation into a positive experience. I can honestly say she is the kind of staff member who should be promoted—she truly understands what excellent service looks like. Based on her help alone, she made me want to come back to the hotel.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience, especially because of Momo, the bellman, and Suhaila at the front desk. They truly blew us out of the water with their level of service. We arrived after a long travel day from Portugal and were exhausted, and from the moment we walked through the doors, Momo and Suhaila made us feel completely taken care of. Their kindness, warmth, attentiveness, and willingness to go above and beyond turned what could have simply been a one-night stay into one of the most memorable hotel experiences we’ve had. What impressed us most was that we were only there for ONE night, yet they treated us like longtime, valued guests. Every interaction felt genuine and personal, and they anticipated what we needed before we even had to ask. After a long international travel day, that level of hospitality meant more than they probably realize. Momo and Suhaila are truly exceptional at what they do and are incredible representatives of this hotel. Service like theirs is the reason people remember a property and choose to come back. We left genuinely blown away by how well we were treated. If management sees this review, please make sure Momo and Suhaila receive the recognition they deserve. They made an incredible impression on us in less than 24 hours, and we are so grateful for the way they took care of us. Five stars doesn’t feel like enough!
