My partner had a business trip in Boston, and I decided to tag along since I had never been. When I found out he’d be staying at the Omni Parker House, I booked my flight and reserved a room as well. Joking about the city’s history beforehand, I was honestly a bit shocked and a little nervous to learn that the hotel is known for being haunted.
When I arrived, I immediately noticed a graveyard tour happening across the street, which definitely added to the eerie excitement. The doorman kindly assisted me with my luggage, and as I entered, I could still feel the hotel’s old-world charm even with the recent renovations. Check-in went smoothly, and I was pleasantly surprised with a complimentary room upgrade.
My room was quaint and cozy…I really liked it. The only downside was the bathroom layout, as the toilet was positioned very close to the wall and sink, leaving little room to move comfortably. That said, my room ended up being much nicer than my partner’s!
We decided to dine at The Last Hurrah, and the clam chowder was delicious. The lobster roll was also very good, though a bit pricey for the portion size. The deviled egg trio was just okay. Of course, we had to try the famous Boston Cream Pie (which, as I learned, isn’t really a pie at all), but unfortunately, it was dry and nothing particularly special.
We also had dinner at Parker’s Bar, where we asked if they used the same Boston Cream Pie recipe as The Last Hurrah and whether “dry” was typical. They kindly provided a complimentary dessert and this time it was much better (moist, creamy, and far more enjoyable).
The hotel’s location is fantastic, close to historic burial sites (which was a hard pass for me), the Freedom Trail, Boston Commons, and Public Garden, along with plenty of shops and attractions.
Overall, I truly enjoyed my time in Boston and my stay at the Omni Parker House, though I will admit there were a few moments where I thought I heard “breathing,” which definitely kept things interesting!
All in all, a memorable stay with a mix of history, charm, and just a touch of mystery.
