What a disappointment for such an expensive place!
I should have known the stay was going to be less than average for so much money when my brother-in-law could not go on the trip due to pneumonia. So, my sister (his wife) could not get the room transferred to her name... even with a doctor note and proof of cancelled flight. So, we had to pay $700 to get a new room for the trip instead of getting a discount with our Total Rewards.
The front desk registration desk man was polite and friendly, but everything after that was terrible. Once we got in the Executive Suite, I should have known how the rest of the time in that hotel would be.
The room was one of the "modern" suites as the front desk man told us. The image when I booked online had a couch and some chairs, but the room we got did not. That is false advertising. The drawers on the dresser did not shut and we kept running into them and had to put a straw in them to hold then shut. The mini refrigerator was slightly cool and barely shut so, anything you wanted cold was not. The furniture in the room had stains on the fabric and looked dirty. We sat one towels.
The first day, we had a clean room and after that, they never showed up again and it was a 5-day stay. We had to request towels at least so we could dry off from the shower in clean towels. One of our boys clogged the toilet and when we called, no one came to fix it. So, we ended up having a clogged toilet which smelled up our suite for more than 24 hours. We called twice and even told the front desk when we were down there. We even would have done it ourselves if they just left a plunger at the door. After the third request, we were happy to see the gentleman that did come unclog it which took less than a minute.
The options for food were minimal and not that good. The Mexican restaurant had one staff member, they closed at 9pm, except when they were not open, or closed at about 8:20pm. Going to the Brews Bros restaurant was not any better. We were told that there is minimal staff with a half empty diner so, it would take 45 minutes to even get an order in. The hostess at the front was friendly though.
When we did gamble at the bar, the bartenders ignored people and served us one drink, and we had to ask for another which was weak. They were not friendly bartenders and did not care everyone else was standing around waiting for their attention to get a drink... and it was not busy. Yes, we were gambling more than enough money and time at the video poker bar so, drinks should have flowed.
One bed was hard and the other was squishy so, we rotated beds each night so that we did not have achy backs the whole trip. It was very odd. For that kind of money, I guess I expected better.
I know there were more things, but I really didn't have time to write them down. I have stayed at other Harrah's with better service, cleaner rooms, and friendlier staff. It is a bummer since I prefer Harrah's... but not the Tahoe Harrah's... and not for that much money! Not worth it. If it were free, maybe it would have been. We made the best of it since we wanted to be on the same floor and next to our family, but maybe we go to the Golden Nugget next trip to Tahoe. It is a shame because I do enjoy other Harrah's and will continue to go to those ones. I guess I expected more since it was expensive and in Tahoe. Outside of Harrah's, it was a good time and Tahoe was beautiful.
