My husband and I first stayed at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe in October 2025 and had such a wonderful experience that we knew we’d return. At the time, we had no idea we’d be coming back almost exactly a year later to celebrate our wedding!
We loved the property, the staff, the beautiful mountain setting, and especially Osteria Sierra. That first visit left such an impression on us that we returned in April 2026 to tour the event spaces and begin planning our wedding celebrations.
This October, we spent five nights at the resort, hosted our wedding dinner at Osteria Sierra, and held a farewell brunch for our families in the beautiful Guests Only event space.
The Property and Accommodations:
The Hyatt is a gorgeous resort in a beautiful North Lake Tahoe setting. The grounds are lovely, the atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing, and there’s a wonderful variety of activities available to guests. Even with the lakeside portion of the property temporarily closed for redevelopment, there’s still plenty to enjoy. The concierge team has consistently been excellent during our visits.
For our wedding weekend, we stayed in the Sierra Suite, which we absolutely loved. It’s a somewhat unusual suite configuration, with an enormous living and dining area, a full bathroom, and the option to connect one or two bedrooms on either side. We had one adjoining king bedroom with its own bathroom, and the space was fantastic for relaxing and spending time with family.
The suite and the rest of the property were beautifully maintained, and we found our accommodations clean and comfortable throughout our stay. Our Sierra Suite was also perfectly quiet, which we especially appreciated during such a busy wedding weekend. While the Hyatt is certainly a premium-priced resort, we felt the accommodations, amenities, beautiful setting, and especially the exceptional staff made the experience worthwhile.
My only suggestion regarding the accommodations would be to update the bathrooms to the same standard as those in the King Deluxe rooms, which we have also stayed in and really enjoyed.
Our Wedding Dinner and Farewell Brunch:
Our wedding dinner at Osteria Sierra was wonderful. Chef Shay deserves tremendous recognition for the communication, personal attention, and care he provided throughout the planning process. He helped us create a special dinner for our family, and the food was fantastic. Carla, who served our group during the wedding dinner, was absolutely amazing.
We also enjoyed dinner at Osteria Sierra on Thursday evening before the wedding, and were delighted to have Ciera as our server again, almost exactly a year after she took such wonderful care of us during our first visit in 2025. She was every bit as fantastic as we remembered!
Our farewell brunch was equally memorable, thanks in large part to Shannon Nevins, who coordinated the entire event.
I genuinely cannot say enough wonderful things about Shannon. Her communication, organization, attention to detail, and kindness were exceptional from beginning to end. She made the planning process easy, and the brunch itself was absolutely perfect. The food, service, and atmosphere exceeded our expectations.
Jeff, Maggie, and Julie were wonderful with our families, and the Guests Only space was a beautiful setting for our final wedding-weekend gathering.
Katie Stirrett, who originally helped us with our event arrangements in April, was another exceptional part of our experience. She was thoughtful, kind, and genuinely invested in making our celebration special. Both Katie and Shannon made us feel incredibly well cared for throughout the process.
How Management Handled Some Challenges:
I do want to be fair and mention that our stay wasn’t entirely without problems.
We encountered significant difficulties with previously confirmed arrangements for transitioning between our rooms, and the initial setup for our wedding dinner at Osteria Sierra was not what had been agreed upon during planning. Both situations were stressful and disappointing, particularly during such an important weekend.
However, what ultimately made the difference was the response from resort management.
General Manager Pascal Dupuis personally addressed our concerns, apologized sincerely, and provided a meaningful resolution. He also made a point of finding me at checkout so we could speak in person. I appreciated his willingness to listen, his kindness, and the genuine concern he showed for our experience.
Juan Martinez, one of the front desk managers, was also particularly helpful in addressing the room situation during our stay.
I believe that how a hotel responds when things go wrong says a great deal about its commitment to hospitality. No resort is perfect, but Pascal’s personal involvement and the way he handled our concerns reinforced our appreciation for this property.
Why We’ll Keep Coming Back:
What makes the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe special isn’t just the setting or the beautiful accommodations. It’s the people.
Across multiple visits, we’ve met employees who genuinely care about their guests and take pride in what they do. Shannon, Katie, Chef Shay, Carla, Ciera, Pascal, Juan, and so many others made a lasting impression on us.
Our wedding weekend was filled with wonderful memories, exceptional food, and heartfelt hospitality. Despite a few challenges, we left feeling deeply grateful for the experience and the people who helped make it so memorable.
It’s amazing to think that a simple overnight getaway in October 2025 led us to choose this resort as the setting for our wedding celebrations one year later.
The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe will forever hold a special place in our hearts, and we’re already looking forward to returning, hopefully every year to celebrate our anniversary!
