The hotel

Set in seven leafy acres, and with a 50-year tradition of serving guests, The Garland is relaxing, family friendly, and doesn’t skimp on style. Take in its relaxed retro vibe and comfy style. Eating at the restaurant here is, as they say, like an evening at an old friend's house. Request a table out on the deck for dining amongst the trees and plants, catch up over a drink in a cosy booth in the lounge or grab a seat at the bar. Check out the weekly programme of activities too — you could join a guided walk, watch a film by the pool or enjoy some complimentary wine tasting. All this, just minutes from LA’s hotspots. As a Preferred Hotel Partner of Universal Studios Hollywood℠, you’re just a free shuttle ride from the parks, so don't forget to purchase your park tickets too for the ride(s) of your life!

this is a lovely hotel for a few days as a family. but do not go as a group. Management will not address group concerns. the staff are lively but the stress of dealing with indifferent management when their staff has made mistakes is just not worth it.

We stayed at the Garland for 2 days booked by our Virgin Atlantic travel agent. As part of a L.A and Hawaii trip. Upon arriving we loved the vibe of the hotel. It’s like stepping back in time, during the Hollywood Golden era! A very busy hotel and rightly so. We were checked in and went to our room. The room was lovely, but did overlook the 101, which is one of the busiest highways in California, it was also quite noisy. We were given the option to move and this time it was greet. Very quiet. My only criticism is that this room now overlooked a wedding venue at the hotel, which was in use 2/3 nights of our stay until 10:30 - 11:00pm. Usually I wouldn’t mind this, but as we had travelled from the UK and were 8 hours behind, sleep was important to us. For me, the hotel would be best to inform anyone staying this side to expect noise and loud music. Or give the option for a quieter room. Especially when we had already asked to move from the highway side. With all this aside, the hotel was great. Lovely staff, we ate in the courtyard and the food was lovely and extremely good value for money! Great proximity to universal and free trolley service! 7.5/10 - we will be back! T&R Read less

Check in was super easy and friendly staff. Room was spacious and beautiful. Very clean with great towels and products. Bed and pillows provided a great night's sleep. Pool bar and food were great with tasty drinks and tacos. The trolley to Universal was a great amenity. We will be back.

The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to be accommodating throughout our visit. The food at the on-site restaurant was lovely—we even ordered a takeaway one night and it was just as good. The hotel also has a cute outdoor pool that was perfect for relaxing, and the gym facilities were clean and well-equipped, which was a nice bonus. The location was great, too—close to stores (which came in handy when I needed to pick up a converter plug). One of the highlights was the free shuttle service to Universal Studios, which ran throughout the day and returned at night—super convenient. Overall, we were very impressed and would 100% stay here again. Highly recommend to anyone visiting LA! Read less
