The hotel was ok but not a 6. Hyatt rates from 1-8 and I've stayed in dozens. I have no idea where they came up with the 6 rating. If you have expectations of a basic hotel, you won't be disappointed. If you're expecting extras or something nice, shop elsewhere.

We spent two nights at the Hyatt Centric Santa Monica. The location was great, just a short walk to the beach and shopping area. The hotel was furnished with a cool vibe to it. The rooms were very nice, with comfortable beds and good amenities, although the bathrooms a little small with 4 people sharing but workable. A great bonus is a games room with free equipment available to borrow for darts, pool and shuffleboard, plus even better complimentary bicycles to hire for up to 4 hours with helmets and padlocks, that we used to cycle all along the boardwalk past the various beaches. We also borrowed towels for the beach. All of these are available from reception / concierge. We didn’t use the pool but it looked lovely. We also only ate out so can’t comment on the restaurant or bar. We would definitely stay here again and recommend the hotel. Read less

I stayed at the Hyatt Centric Santa Monica during a recent holiday and found it to be a well-appointed and thoughtfully run hotel in a prime location. The overall atmosphere was clean and welcoming, with a modern, stylish decor that made the space feel both fresh and relaxed. Service throughout the stay was consistently strong, particularly from the room service and valet teams — professional, efficient, and genuinely helpful. My room was a comfortable size, with a lovely view. The bar area was also smartly designed and ideal for a relaxed evening drink. The pool was another highlight — well-maintained and perfect for a quick dip or a longer moment of relaxation. The location was also excellent: just a short walk (around 10 minutes) to Santa Monica Beach, making it easy to enjoy the shoreline without needing to drive. Overall, I’d recommend Hyatt Centric to couples, solo travelers, or small groups looking for a polished, design-forward hotel near the beach, with excellent service and a laid-back California feel. Wonderful place to stay, easy walk to everywhere we wanted to go. Enjoyed in house restaurant, free filtered water, beds comfy, view of ocean spectacular!

Great location - walkable to the Pier and safe neighborhood. Pool is small, but breakfast was great. Hotel staff were friendly. Definitely recommend.
