As sleek and understated as it appears from its spot on LA’s legendary Sunset Boulevard, the Andaz West Hollywood is actually a prime slab of Rock ‘n’ Roll history that dates back to 1963. Over the years the likes of The Who’s Keith Moon and The Stones’ Keith Richards have sent TVs flying off the (now enclosed) balconies, while Led Zep drummer John Bonham reportedly rode a motorbike up and down the corridors. Thoroughly renovated for the 21st century the Andaz relishes its history, but these days the musical motifs complement the minimally chic décor in boutique-style rooms rather than run rampant. Indeed, there’s a friendly, unpretentious welcome here that extends from the hotel’s enticing eateries to its breathtaking rooftop pool (where, incidentally, Spinal Tap’s end of tour party was filmed). Rock. And. Roll.

Andaz for the Win

Breakfast was amazing each morning, and the views over the Hollywood Hills were absolutely breathtaking. One of my favorite parts of the stay was relaxing by the rooftop pool—it's the perfect spot to unwind while taking in those stunning panoramic views.
The Andaz consistently delivers a high-quality, comfortable, and welcoming experience. It's officially my go-to hotel whenever I’m in the area! Highly recommend.

A gym-specific review

This review is only focused on the gym as there is very little info about what it looks like.
It’s a small-ish space but with good views of Sunset Boulevard and the Pendry Hotel across the street. The gym has a couple of Peloton bikes, four treadmills, a full complement of dumbbells and some kettlebells. It has a few machines as well.

Not really good for anyone wanting to do yoga or workout with barbells, as those aren’t part of the equipment set.
When I came in the first time, there were 6 or so people working out and it felt crowded. Later, with 3 people, it was fine.
It’s by no means a great gym like in other hotels. But it’s functional enough.

That said, the room itself was a bit of a letdown. The layout felt awkward and the space didn’t feel particularly functional. While it was clean, the furniture felt dated and a bit worn, and overall the room could really use a refresh to better match the modern vibe of the rest of the hotel.
Still, the great service and rooftop amenities made it a worthwhile stay—but we’d love to see the rooms brought up to the same standard.

Star Treatment

The Andaz team made our stay so special. They made my 10 year old daughter be in shock from the balloons, card, stuffed animals, and treats they provided. They were so friendly and I love the app where you can request things you need that we forgot to pack. The Mezzanine is a great place to hang out and relax. This hotel is hard to beat!
Fine but worn out and tired, needs to be refreshed

Hotel staff was professional and nice. Room was clean but very worn out and tired. Minimalist, like a worn out Hard Rock Hotel style room, not luxurious at all. Lots of dings and paint chips, and the bathroom door (barn style sliding) was completely torn up on the bottom and looked like a cheap hotel door. Strong disinfectant smell in the room. Had two queens with a 'sunroom' which is a slight alcove overlooking Sunset Blvd. Earplugs on the bedside but windows were enough to keep out street noise. Insanely high parking fee, $75! I would look at other, less beat-up options for the price. As Hyatt Globalist member, I thought Andaz was one of their nicer level properties but this one needs to be refreshed (I'd lose the carpet in the rooms and do wood or faux wood). Didn't stay for breakfast but had an excellent take away latte. Would be worth it to fix it up with the location.
