As sleek and understated as it appears from its spot on LA’s legendary Sunset Boulevard, the Andaz West Hollywood is actually a prime slab of Rock ‘n’ Roll history that dates back to 1963. Over the years the likes of The Who’s Keith Moon and The Stones’ Keith Richards have sent TVs flying off the (now enclosed) balconies, while Led Zep drummer John Bonham reportedly rode a motorbike up and down the corridors. Thoroughly renovated for the 21st century the Andaz relishes its history, but these days the musical motifs complement the minimally chic décor in boutique-style rooms rather than run rampant. Indeed, there’s a friendly, unpretentious welcome here that extends from the hotel’s enticing eateries to its breathtaking rooftop pool (where, incidentally, Spinal Tap’s end of tour party was filmed). Rock. And. Roll.

Worst Experience in LA, EVER

Despite booking a standard room well in advance, I was placed in an accessible room upon arrival — something I didn’t request or need. I understand that hotels can occasionally become overbooked, but for the price and expectations set by this property, I would have appreciated proactive communication or at least a partial accommodation for the inconvenience.
The room layout and features were clearly not designed for a standard guest experience, and overall, it made my stay feel less than comfortable. It’s disappointing that my first impression at this property was marked by what felt like a lack of care in room assignment and guest satisfaction.
I hope future guests are given the experience they actually book — especially at this price point.

Valet parking is outrageous

Room is dated. Staffs are nice and accommodating. The valet parking price is outrageous. $75 per night without tax, with tax is about $ 100 per night. I guess it is LA after all.

I had booked this trip through chase travel portal. Paid for with points. Upon check-in I had a nice conversation with the concierge. He was enthusiastic about my stay and offered a room upgrade that would be more exciting for my vacation. I asked how much more this would be and he said $20/night. Come to find out this was actually $52/night. This felt a bit shady from a consumer experience standpoint. If you go, I would recommend not accepting any upgrades unless you see it is actually not affecting the cost drastically. The room itself was not nice enough to warrant an extra $52/night.
