EDITION West Hollywood

West Hollywood, Los Angeles

Star rating

The hotel

Sunset Boulevard is known for it's glitz and glamour, dining and nightlife - so the West Hollywood EDITION certainly fits right in. With it's sleek design, rooftop pool, delectable dining, and late night music, you'll be living the film star life here. Your location is ideal for exploring Beverly Hills and Hollywood, whilst it's also an easy drive to the beaches of Santa Monica and Venice. But you don't really have to move from the hotel if you don't wish. The centre spot of the hotel is the roof terrace, adorned with plants and overlooking the LA city. Dip your toes in the pool whilst you sip on a tropical-inspired cocktail or a chilled glass of rose. Back in your light-filled room you'll also enjoy views for days, whether it be the Hollywood hills or downtown LA. Upgrade to a suite to enjoy a large soaking tub, and in the bathroom you'll find the the hotels signature scent, The Edition, available to spray upon yourself. Ardor is the place to satisfy your hunger pangs, spearheaded by one of the most famous vegetable chefs in the world. So whilst there are meat dishes on the menu (we recommend the melt-in-the-mouth pork belly dish), there's a huge range of plant based dishes too, all of which can be enjoyed on the beautifully decorated terrace on those warm evenings. At the weekend, extend your fun late into the night at Sunset. A modern nightclub in the spirit of the dozens that lined Sunset Strip in the 60's and 70's. With music from all genres, you can dance the night away.

Your experience may vary. I stayed here for at least 10 weeks over the last years and have made all kinds of experiences - from great to not so great. Starting with the positives: 1. The in-room dining is fantastic and the best I ever had at any hotel. By now I probably ordered every item from the menu at least once and everything has been really, really good. On top of that the team members who serve the food are all extremely nice and professional. 2. Everyone at the valet is extremely nice and courteous. I’ll not complain about the valet pricing and lack of self parking since that’s just normal in LA these days. 3. I really like the design of the rooms (pretty much same as all other Edition hotels) and the smell in the hotel is great too. Now to the negatives: 1. Even the hotel seems to be relatively new, you can see a lot of wear and tear - definitely in the rooms, but also in the hallways and other public areas. Maintenance is clearly an issue. Over 4 times I had to call a technician because ceiling lights in the room were flickering. Doesn’t match the price point and intended standard. Also, a lot of the rooms have terraces/patios and I don’t understand why, they tend to be in very bad shape and the view is horrible. 2. Depending on what room you’ll get, it’s extremely loud and impossible to sleep without earplugs. The problem is that the noise comes from multiple sources: if you have a room facing Sunset Blvd, you’re definitely doomed. If you have a room on the higher floor you might also have troubles since the rooftop bar can be extremely loud. 3. Less of an issue, but worth mentioning: Even though I’m staying here so often and have Marriott Ambassador status I rarely get an upgrade even when the hotel occupancy is low. I’m still staying here a few times a year, but I really wish that the hotel would at least tackle the maintenance issues because the current state doesn’t match neither the star rating nor the price. If price and star rating were lower I would give it 4 stars instead of 3. Read less

Honestly, this was one of the best hotels experience I’ve had. The staff was so friendly from checking in, to eating at the rooftop bar, to the concierge, to the spa. I read other reviews that there was loud noise. Our room was completely quiet. The beds were super comfortable. We had absolutely the best experience and I will stay here again.
