You know you’ve reached wine country when you arrive at Meritage Resort & Spa. On the threshold of Napa Valley, its design may be Tuscan-inspired, but its soul is pure Napa, with views of a grapevine-covered slope as you swim, hiking (or strolling) trails through nine acres of vineyards, an underground tasting room, and wine served at every turn. But it’s also a place that recognises exceptional wine should be paired with life’s other luxuries: separate adult and family pools, al fresco fireplaces and whirlpools, lazy Sunday brunches, and wining and dining venues like award-winning Siena, the Crush bowling lounge, a café-come-gelateria, and a luxury wine bar. But it’s the Estate Cave that promises the most indulgence; 40 ft underground, it hosts a wine tasting room and Spa Terra’s steam grottos and soaking pools.

There are field mice in the restaurant - Olive and Hay. While eating dinner, there were mice visibly in the dining area. Management acted as if it was a usual occurrence.

On July 4,2025 I dined with 14 friends and family at Olive & Hay. Manager stated it was a country mouse & they come in when the doors are open. (When there is one there are more). I asked to…

During the experience a mouse appeared near our table which spoiled our appetites and left food on the table as we moved toward the center of the restaurant. Manager stated it was a country mouse & they come in when the doors are open. (When there is one there are more). I asked to have the meal comp since we did not finish. He stated he would comp. After, he gave us the bill he took of a small percentage and did not comp our bill. I proceed to speak with the manager on the front desk and she did what she could and sent a message to the next manager in-line concerning our experience.
Also, service has not been the best. Housekeeping did clean our rooms or clean the bathrooms.
I expect better service and concern for guests at a resort that’s suppose to be a cut above the rest.

While dining at Olive and Hay at Meritage Resort and Spa rats were above my head while eating dinner with my friends. The rats ruined the birthday celebration. The staff were not accommodating in regard to our traumatic experience with the rats. The staff opened the door to allow the rats out and stated rats are always here because of the vineyard. The rats were in the restaurant, not the vineyard. I will contact the California department board of health on Monday (7/7/25) to report the rats in the Olive and Hay, at Meritage Resort and Spa.
