We travel the country and world frequently. This Renaissance property does NOT come close to resembling the professionally taken photos provided. The place was a falling down dump with the rudest staff of anywhere I’ve ever been. To top it off, NO WORKING AIR CONDITIONING!!! And this is nothing new. I looked back at reviews from years ago with guests complaining of no working air conditioning in their room and run down hotel conditions. This place was as run down as it gets. Do not believe these pictures provided by the hotel. Our room was totally run down, old, dirty, broken, and had NO air conditioning with over 100 degree temps outside. When I alerted the front desk that the air conditioning was not working, they handled it shockingly rude and unprofessionally and clearly had heard it many times before because it didn’t phase them that our room didn’t have working air. It took three hours for maintenance to get to the room to “repair” it—basically , he banged on it to get it to wake up. He told me the units are so old they constantly go out and he’s always in guests’ rooms trying to fix the problem. I saw the unit when he had the cover off and it looked so old and worn it was scary. I had no confidence his repair was going to last, and it did not. The unit was extremely loud, banging, and straining to work (we had it set at 76) and died again five hours later and was barely working the five hours it did “work.” The room was very hot and miserable. Hotel staff treated us terribly for complaining about the lack of air conditioning. TERRIBLY!!! I cannot stress that enough! We spent two nights in a horribly hot room. The pool, well, that too was a joke. In the photos provided, they show it looking all pretty with all the blue umbrellas open. Well, we had the ONE AND ONLY WORKING UMBRELLA at the pool. When we got to the pool we tried finding an umbrella that opened and stayed open. We walked from one umbrella to the next, and EVERY SINGLE UMBRELLA, except for one, had the missing pin needed to hold it up. Hotel staff didn’t bat a lash. Wouldn’t a properly run hotel purchase new pins to hold up the umbrellas? Not a single staff member assisted guests and clearly this, too, they’d seen a thousand times before. While we sat under the only working umbrella that the pool (thanks to a person leaving and giving us his) we watched other guests arrive at the pool and walk to every umbrella trying to find one that stayed up. NOT ONE WORKED! I felt terrible and guilty. After what we were experiencing, we were too afraid to try anything to eat or drink at the property, so I cannot comment on the food. Additionally, we didn’t want to give this dump one extra cent, so we ate elsewhere. The staff CLEARLY KNOWS this place has A LOT of serious issues and looking back in the comments, has known for years, yet gives a canned response to reviews and does nothing when you’re there in person. They could care less. I’ve never encountered anything like this in all of my travels. We checked out from this dump earlier than anticipated, flew to San Diego, stayed at the Westin Bayfront and had a wonderful time the rest of our week. If you’re going to Palm Springs, I can recommend the JW Marriott Desert Springs. Whatever you do, DO NOT stay here at the Renaissance. DO NOT believe the nice pictures as they are NOT representative of what you’re walking into today. This place is a disgrace. The health department needs to get involved. I just might make a phone call. Jackie, I don’t want a canned response thanking me for my review. I’m reviewing this dump to warn others to stay away. Jackie is clearly as unprofessional as it gets. These problems have existed for years. The place is a wreck.
