The brief explanation of this review is this: If we had known we were paying $1,000 for two nights for the equivalent of a budget hotel, we would have stayed somewhere else. I understand that we may have higher standards than some, but our stay was subpar with no opportunity to be rectified. Apart from the grounds being beautiful and the amenities being nice, I have very little positives to tell about this property. The long version: When we arrived 30 minutes after 4 pm (the listed check in time), we were informed that although we had reserved a room with a king bed there were none available. We had been bumped to a room with two queens. As no other options were presented to us, we checked in and wandered up to our room. We were above the lobby on the second floor facing the parking lot which in hindsight is probably the last resort for when the hotel is overbooked because the room was atrocious. The desk and counters were chipped and broken along the edges, the walls had visible damage, there were no curtains to cover the windows one of which had broken blinds that didn’t shut completely, and the shower had no shelf space. Not worth the near $400 we paid for one night. When we came back to our room in the evening, all of the lights in the hallway were out and it was pitch black. We informed the front desk, but the lights did not turn on all night. If we had thought there was a room available to be moved to, we would have made a bigger fuss. My partner did go to the front desk and ask if there were other rooms available and they were told that there was an upgraded room available the following night for a fee of $50. We paid it, had to check out and re-check in, and by this point we considered just getting a refund for our second night and staying somewhere else. We gave it a chance and the next room was better, but still not what I would consider up to the Hyatt Regency standards. There were curtains in this room, although they didn’t shut properly, and still scuffs around the surfaces and walls, but overall much better than the night before. That being said, the pool and slides were great and the property itself was well maintained. We did not receive service or eat at the restaurants on property, but the rest of our family enjoyed them through our stay. Very disappointing overall and we will not be back. Read less

We stayed one night at this property spur of the moment for Mother’s Day. We live local and wanted a quick staycation. The Hyatt mission bay was great! The front desk, Valet and bell staff were so nice, helpful and professional. We are world of Hyatt members and were upgraded to a suite overlooking the pool and bay. (The pool is fun for families with some small waterslides.) Beautiful room. We did not even ask for the upgrade. I’m used to asking and hoping for upgrades at Hilton and rarely getting one. So nice of Hyatt to take care of the WOH members. We are not even a high level. If I had one small critique it would be that the hallways and waiting area by elevators could use sprucing up. Fresh coat of paint. However our room was beautiful and seemed newly remodeled. Loved the shiplap on the walls and comfy bed. Would’ve liked a magnifying mirror in the bathroom cause I’m old. Lol. Overall, we will definitely stay here again! Read less

The pool area is very nice with fire pits and 3 water slides and a couple of pols including a very large hot tub. The valet and the staff are very pleasant. It is fairly expensive and they do charge extra to park your car. Which is something I do not like. Also the restaurant closes at 10:00 pm which is a mistake. People go out and have a full day or a late flight arrival cannot get any food. If you want a dessert or nightcap after 10:00 pm you are out of luck. Read less

The grounds were immaculate and reminded us of Maui. We truly felt like we were on "vacation" and came back home relaxed and extremely happy with our stay and experience at Hyatt Regency Mission Bay. My wife and I are loyal to the Hyatt brand and will definitely be back next year to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and her 58th birthday! I will definitely refer colleagues, friends and family. Read less

Great place to stay. Great location to everything to explore. Highly recommend this resort… great for families with children. The restaurant Red Marlin had a great Mother’s Day brunch. The staff at the restaurant was attentive and helpful with recommendations for places to visit. Made a lasting impression.
