Argonaut Hotel at Fishermans Wharf

San Francisco, California

Star rating

The hotel

You might feel like you’ve boarded a luxury cruise ship as you enter this distinctive boutique hotel, perched on the edge of the bay. The Argonaut’s original red brick walls, rich wood beams and ‘deck floors’ help to transport you back to San Francisco’s nautical heyday. At the same time, the plush décor provides all you need to settle in to your charming surrounds. Until, of course, those views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz lure you out to explore all that is Fisherman’s Wharf.

I was looking to be near Fisherman's Wharf but a bit removed from the crowds. This was the perfect location for that. The only negative was the parking situation. I was looking to be near Fisherman's Wharf but a bit removed from the crowds. This was the perfect location for that. The only negative was the parking situation. We had planned to leave the car all day upon check out (and fully prepared to pay) but they said our car had to be picked up by 1pm from the valets. I should have researched it ahead of time so I could have made different arrangements because it really made us shift our plan for the day to all of a sudden have our car for our SF sightseeing day. Oh, and the windows desperately need to be cleaned. We had a Bay View room and the view was really compromised by the very filthy windows. If paying a premium for the view, I would expect a clean window. The rest of the room and hotel was very well taken care of and clean so the windows were a surprise. Probably just caught them on an off day. Read less

We love boutique hotels and this hotel exudes charm. Everyone we dealt with ( check-in, bellhop and concierge) were wonderful and pleasant. The concierge was friendly and helpful to book tours for us and recommendations. Room is small but charming and comfortable. Not to mention it is located centrally on fisherman’s wharf. This was a win

My husband and I have been staying at the Argonaut Hotel every year for over 20 years and always get a Bayview room. This year, I tried to make reservations the week of April 28th, and the rates were extremely high. I emailed Argonaut and Tony recommended we select any other week because of an event in the city, and he would provide us with a great rate and a great City View room. When we checked in Steven provided excellent customer service. He also introduced us to the Assistant Front Desk Manager, Stephanie. She welcomed us to the hotel and thanked us for being a returning guest. She also offered to help us with any reservations for future stays. Steven allowed us to have an early check in at no charge. We had a great room as promised. All front desk staff were friendly and helpful. We always love talking to their bell captain, John. Domingo and John both provide excellent customer service and are a great asset to their team. Eileen Thompson Read less
